We need to trade this fucking guy. His .300+ average, .386 OBP over the last month, team first attitude, willingness to play anywhere, daily availability, gold glove defense, community involvement and commitment to his team simply doesn't cut it. There has got to be some washed up scrub relief pitcher, middle infielder or a brand new Casey Blake 2.0 Ned can get for him. The greatness and dependability of Matt K-emp and Carl Crawford make him expendable. His contract is horrific compared to their contracts.
Now, being serious... They wont trade him this season, not with how players are getting injured... But he will be gone by next season, unless something happens with Crawford... Kemp is not going anywhere as he's seen as the cornerstone of the team, and I doubt they try to trade Puig... I always said they needed to give Ethier a 1B glove, but with the Adrian trade that option is out... Unless they teach Puig how to play 3B, I dont see a position for Ethier in 2014
Haha. Thing about Ethier fans they are fucking die-hards man, how many years has it been now, seven? Spanning numerous forums? Knickers get seriously twisted over this guy. Milton Bradley > Ethier . Dre has done well. serviceable in every department, (except in the nearly half his AB's because they come against lefties and he is abysmal.) Can you imagine Gwynn or Skip having to play center? Dre is the perfect 4th/platooning OFer, can play all positions averagely. We need to keep him even if "average" is costing us 15 mil a year.
crawford is garbage but an outfield of puig, pederson and (fingers crossed) a healthy kemp sounds pretty good
In saying that, if Streakier can go on one of his streaks during this second half it would help A LOT. Hanley ain't going to play like this forever and Puig has been figured out. Hopefully what Andre did today can be a catalyst for a nice little tear.
Ethier would frustrate me to know end. But it has helped that I've accepted he's not a HR hitter anymore. He's not a threat to go deep (today notwithstanding) and he can help the team win with timely base hits, an occasional extra base hit and solid D. And he's clearly outplaying Kemp and Crawford so he's needed on the team without a doubt.
They are die hard... I wonder where were they when he was hitting like .225 in June... Ethier is the most extreme streakiest guy ever... His who.e season stats are created by 3 raking 2-3 week streak... Other than that he's replacement level...
As for Joc. Personally I see Xavier, Gutierrez, Trayvon (no, not Martin you knuckleheads) etc, and other "prospects" that turned to role players in him. Don't know why, I just don't think he's going to be all that. Ethier is going to be fine in Blue for another two years.
I hadn't really considered walk out songs within the context of social comment but why not? It could be a very effective form of communications if done well
Ethier is having more than a bad first half imo. Looks nothing like the same player at all. It's kinda sad. He does nice things still, but I don't trust him offensively at all. I just feel like he's gonna get out every time. I remember a time when I felt he was automatically gonna crush the ball against any right-hander. Now it's the same slow swing against everyone. He's not injured, so...? At least Kemp has an excuse
pissant... don't earn yourself a second bkitchslap... and I'd keep it real with some ancient Skynyrd Simple Man...
