Leave sliding into firstbase for the "gritty" players.

Gritty. Ronald Belliard was as scrappy as they came and he'd never pull something that stupid.

Nick Punto was gritty enough to pull it off.

All of the Arizona Diamondbacks can slide into first, they just can't win games. Gritty as it gets over there.

Modern major leaguers as a whole don't know how to sliide to save their lives. Makes me cringe to see how bad it has gotten. If done properly a slide into any base feet 1st can be done. It doesn't get you into the base faster as running it out would but it can be done.

I read somewhere that those quotes were out of context. Can't blame Jones for being honest though. A little douchey, but honest.

how much out of context could they be?
    he discredited tanaka's japan accomplishments
then implied that tanaka should be the one enamored with him
after going out and getting fanned twice against him

Idk I didn't read the story haha. I just hate the over-hype on all these foreign players just for them to go all Dice-K on everyone. Obviously that's not everyone, but you get the point.

There's always that one shitty team every April who starts off at a fucking blistering pace, and everyone sucks them off and says they've turned the corner. Then May-June hits and the true team talent starts to shine through, and they average out. Usually the Rockies or the Padres, but welcome to this years award Milwaukee Brewers.

    • Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson is the early front-runner for "first manager to get fired" due to the team's 4-11 start, but Rosenthal wonders what more Gibson can do with the pitching talent (or lack thereof) he has been given. GM Kevin Towers thinned out the rotation depth by trading Tyler Skaggs and David Holmberg this offseason, and the loss of Patrick Corbin compounded those moves.
i hate the d'bags and despise gibson
