Difference is Peavy has been bad in the AL east while Dan Haren has been getting smoked in the NL west.

I wouldn't go quite that far. Peavy has had a bad season but looking at his splits two things catch my eye. First, his numbers aren't that bad at Fenway, he's getting killed on the road. Second, he hasn't been that bad in July, with 8.8 K/9 and 3.17 K/BB.

Factoring in that the Dodgers have a reputation for folding like a cheap card board box in the face of mediocre pitching and that Peavy has a history of being a Dodger killer, I think I'd rather face Cain (were he available) than Peavy.

Peavy's numbers against the Dodgers 5+ years ago are irrelevant, IMO

We say pitchers who haven't won a game in over a year shouldn't beat us. But look what happens. It was a long time ago, but baseball a weird.

A guy could suck donkey balls against other teams but be Cy Young against others. 11 - 2 lifetime.

Jason Lane, the old Astros outfielder just threw 6 innings, 1 Er for the Padres. My brother and I used to take hitting lessons from the guy, happy for him.

I saw that and read the article because it looked like a good story. Unfortunately the writer fucked it up. Ethier he didn't do his research or he meant to say something other than what he actually said.

    http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb...md=20140728&content_id=86708044&vkey=news_mlb

Lane became the oldest pitcher to start a game in the big leagues since Troy Percival (38 years, 52 days) did so for the Cardinals on Sept. 30, 2007.

He was incorrect twice in the same sentence. Greg Maddux made 33 starts for the Dodgers and pAAdres in 2008 at age 42, and at age 41 in 2007 he was older than Percival. I'm sure he meant to say "oldest to make his starting debut" and fucked it up. But good God man, you're supposed to be a journalist, get your shit straight.

with the nats and brewers losing, we suddenly have the best record in the nl again

meanwhile, the giants are 3 outs away from losing their 5th straight and dropping 2 full games back :woot:
