The words are right there, and I stand by it. Puig has/had infinite more trade value. I still see problems with Puig too. Mainly his inability to hold up at the end of a 162 game season. Did you see Kemp benched in game 4 of the playoffs? No, it was Puig who was benched, for Andre Ethier.

Puig is by far a better player than Kemp and he's only 24? why the hell would you trade him?

Because he isn't "By far" a better player than Kemp, but he certainly has way more trade value.

@JackCurryYES: Chris Capuano will get $5M on the 1-year deal. Back-end-of the rotation type who has also relieved.

If I ever have a son, he is playing baseball. Like a fucking lottery ticket if you make it in the bigs.

Only reason would be the value you'd get for him.

not saying I'd do it, but there's one reason.

ridiculous stance. Padres will be lucky if they get 3 good years out of Kemp and so would the Dodgers if they had kept him. Puig's window is wide open and he's the most exciting player in MLB. you only move Puig if you can get a young superstar like Stanton that puts asses in seats. i mean just look at how it all played out..really no need to go any further.

Didn't Puig play shortened seasons in Cuba? Something around 80 games or so if I recall correctly. That'd make last season his first full year on the Dodgers. He'll adjust to the lengthened schedule through experience and is a lot more valuable to the team than Kemp. He's younger, healthier, faster, and better defensively.

    And cheaper.

But I think the biggest key there is health and age. I've seen Puig get twisted up on some plays the last two seasons that would have sent Kemp to the DL (hell, I was sore just from watching Puig on some plays), but Puig bounced right up. It's a reminder that the guy is only 23 and can take more punishment from the long season than an older player like Kemp.

even better, teach him to throw lefty

as for the kemp/puig debate, i get it
puig would have likely gotten a better return
but the upside on puig is a lot higher if, for nothing else, his age
and he makes a lot less
so puig's tradability (sp) makes it easier going forward... he'll be much easier to trade later than kemp would have been
    just my 2 cents

age probably factors somewhat into Puig's ability to bounce right up from bad spills, but remember..Bryce Harper is younger than Puig is and Harper doesn't bounce right up from his spills. Puig is an athletic freak. a phenom. Stanton and Trout are probably the only other guys who are in his company and Trout's not as big/strong and Stanton's not as fast. and neither plays with the kind of reckless abandon that makes Puig the most exciting player in MLB.

Dodgers obviously just signed a major deal with Time Warner..trading Puig and keeping Kemp would not even be an option unless the return is maybe a Stanton/Trout. otherwise, no go. that's just the business.

I'd say he's by far the better player, especially going forward.

He might be better, but certainly not "by far."
