    gossage was right
bautista is a showboat who shows zero respect for his opponents
    but the game has changed
i personally don't like all the histrionics and wish it was more like the old days
that someone would put one in joey bats ear
if he did that shit to gibson or drysdale, he'd have to be carted off in his next at bat

as for the cuba thing, i totally get where lebatard is coming from
it's like those ignorant kids who where che guevara shirts because they're cool, completely unaware of what he did/represented
but there is also a time to let it go
easier for me to say than someone under castro's reign

    I...

I can't say that I've seen Bautista do that a number of times. He may, which is inappropriate.

But that one shot that sent them into the ALCS, well, I can understand showing a little emotion. And again, ESPN is using that highlight to promo the sport, so...

And I get DLB's stance too. If you've ever heard Marco Rubio talk about Cuba, same shit. It hits a nerve. But what are we supposed to do? Continue all lack of contact until the island totally starves itself.

Again, man, the Cold War is over already. We have bigger fish to fry.

i'm a bit old school about showing up people
i've always hated the giants, but i always the way matt williams would put his head down when he ran around the bases after a hr
that said, i don't want all the players to be robots either
i just find it hypocritical that guys like puig and carlos gomez get crucified for doing far less than bautista and bryce harper
and fwiw, bautista does that shit all the time
but if pitchers aren't going to retaliate then the hot dogs are going to keep doing it

I remember when Jeff Leonard used to round the bases with his arm that was facing the pitcher down by his side. New and imaginative ways to be a dickhead.

I can honestly see both schools of thought.

A guy wants to celebrate a big hit, as long as he doesn't do it with every at bat. That pitcher's just gotta shut him down to avoid any of that.

Of course since most guys are batting under .300, the pitcher is getting the better of 'em most of the time.

Oh, and how about that old A's-Red Sox series when Dennis Eckersley got fired up after striking out Dwight Evans? Dewey took umbrage with his over-animation.
