These are Katie Woo's (The Athletic) roster projections for the first series.

    Catchers (2)
    Will Smith, Hunter Feduccia

It’s Will Smith’s world. Feduccia, as dependable as he’s been since coming over at the trade deadline, is insurance.

    Designated Hitters (2)
    Shohei Ohtani, Josue De Paula

De Paula should get the nod over Dalton Rushing as the left-handed bat off the bench, a decision that seemed all but certain when the club optioned De Paula within the exact number of days to preserve his NLDS roster eligibility last week.

“He’s done everything he can to put himself in a position to be in the conversation for us as we’re making our postseason roster,” Dodgers president Andrew Friedman said at the time.

De Paula’s role will be strictly to hit. The Dodgers aren’t entertaining the notion of De Paula in the outfield. They want his plate discipline and his pop as a threat off the bench. De Paula has just 11 major-league games under his belt, but his .500 on-base percentage and 1.081 OPS should convince Dodgers’ brass to carry their breakout rookie into the postseason.

    Infielders (7)
1B Freddie Freeman, UTIL Tommy Edman, SS Mookie Betts, 3B Max Muncy, UTIL Miguel Rojas, UTIL Kiké Hernández, 2B/SS Hyeseong Kim

Most of the usual suspects here. Expect Dave Roberts to roll out his usual lineup — Freeman at first base, Edman at second, Betts at short and Muncy at third — with Rojas and Hernández ready to reprise their usual roles as the experienced veterans off the bench.

The one twist? Kim makes the roster, but in a very specific role. Given the short series, Roberts can put an emphasis on role players, and Kim’s speed gives the Dodgers a leg up (ha, get it?) on the bases. In this scenario, Kim likely won’t play the field or take an at-bat, but if there’s a pivotal base to be stolen or a go-ahead run to score, expect that responsibility to fall to Kim.

    Outfielders (3)
Kyle Tucker, Andy Pages, Teoscar Hernández

No surprises here. Expect Teoscar Hernández in left, Tucker in right and Pages holding it down in center. If the Dodgers need to get creative, Edman can slot to center field with either Rojas or Kiké Hernández taking over at second base.

    Pitchers (12)
RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto (SP), LHP Tarik Skubal (SP), LHP Blake Snell (SP), RHP Tyler Glasnow (SP/RP), RHP Edwin Díaz, RHP Roki Sasaki, LHP Tanner Scott, LHP Alex Vesia, RHP Evan Phillips, LHP Jack Dreyer, RHP Brock Stewart, RHP Edgardo Henríquez

Hyeseong Kim is suddenly back in the postseason roster conversation as the Dodgers mull their final decisions in the coming days. His bat remains a question mark, but his speed and defense give LA a specific weapon off the bench. Could that be enough to get him back on the October roster?

they’ll probably go with freeland, since he was their choice (over kim) all season

Atlanta has a BIG weakness the Dodgers may be able to exploit if these teams match up and could contribute to roster decisions:

Hitting against left-handed pitchers. Atlanta has struggled all season vs LHP.

    Overall Numbers (thru 9/26):
    .247/.310/.410
    98 wRC+
    .316 xwOBA

    vs RHP:
    .251/.315/.417
    101 wRC+
    .323 xwOBA

    vs LHP:
    .240/.300/.396
    91 wRC+
    .301 xwOBA

What could this mean for the Dodgers?

The Dodgers will likely carry 8-9 bullpen arms in the NLDS.

    Scott and Vesia are locks.

This drastic of a split could open the door for Bubic/Dreyer/Wrobleski, as they could be the best matchups for this Atlanta team.

#Dodgers Dave Roberts said Edgardo Henriquez has been throwing bullpen sessions, is healthy. Will take part in bye week sim games, live BPs and expected to be on the NLDS roster.

Interesting... eight relievers but no multi-inning guys like Sheehan or Wrobo. I guess the thinking is that the starters are strong enough that even in a bad outing there should only be 5 or 6 innings for the pen to cover. But what happens if a game goes extra innings? With 18-inning games in each of the last two postseasons, you'd think the Dodgers would want to have a contingency arm. Can't rely on a Will Klein-type of scenario to play out so perfectly again.

In a short series Glasnow might be that guy.

    @SleeperDodgers
Projecting the back end of the Dodgers’ postseason bullpen:
    • Tanner Scott

    • Roki Sasaki
    • Edwin Diaz
    • Alex Vesia

might want to save a spot for evan phillips at that table

I still don't trust Diaz there. Hoping Henriquez is back and if so I'd put him in Edwin's place.

    he’s been good of late
    • 5.0 IP / 1 H / 0 ER / 0 IRS / 1 BB / 9 K
but three of those outings were against SF, so there’s that
plus he was getting absolutely lit up in AAA before getting called back up
i’d like to believe he’s figured out what was wrong — especially since i hate the “it’s difficult to get motivated in non-save situations” argument — but it’s really hard for me to forget
    same with tanner tbh

Very underrated because he doesn't throw 98-100, but the walks (32 in 58 innings) scare me. That said, he has a knack for pitching his way out of messes.

Per the #Dodgers transactions page, Los Angeles has recalled both Hyeseong Kim and LHP Ronan Kopp from Triple-A OKC.

I know Philly's pen is weak other than their closer, but they're asking him to go 2 this early in the series?

Even if they lose this game, Braves need to make him work harder in the 9th than they did that inning.

And I mixed up the innings. Duran came in in the 7th. Isn't he their closer?

Regardless, Phillies are regretting that now I'm sure.

A 1 PM PT NLDS start at Dodger Stadium… when it’s supposed to be 100°?! That’s a very real possibility for Dodgers Game One on Saturday.

If the Padres advance, LA gets the early start. If the Cubs advance, it’s a 6 PM first pitch.

Game Two stays at 5 PM either way.

    October is already getting weird.

    a 1:00 pm start and 100°?!!!
another reason to root for the cubs
