In the karnevil of carne hassada there is nothing fair if you don't pay the fare an even then you ever been to a fair there ain't nothing fair at the fair but one thing and that's the fair ladies which are the only point of going to the flesh evaluation that is a carnival now that there is no old timey slavery just fanfare for the common man.

Long Beach arena sometime long long ago in the way back machine

    house lights dim
    stage smoke machines crank up
single spotlight on the stage elevator as it rises
Greg Lake takes a single step forward

and begins with "Welcome Back my Friends..."

recollections alone are producing a frothy buzz

Saw ELP in the summer of '74, after that album came out, and I was a huge fan. It was an all day concert with like 13 bands, ELP was next to last and I'd be less than honest if I didn't say I was higher than I had ever been in my life when they were on. The best part of that concert was that the Allman Brothers closed the show and mellowed everything out nicely. After their set, they stayed on stage and just jammed and improvised for well over an hour.

Yeah ELP had that affect on people... as did the Allman Bros and certain other bands of that day and age.

Took my high school aged kids to see Green Day a few years back and at one point lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong wanted a young nubile fan to be allowed to join him on stage and went off on the security guys with a screed "I'm Billie Joe Fucking Armstrong and I get what EVER I want"... then security checked with the promoters and permitted said nubile on stage. Sad.

Most definitely colored my view of that arrogant prick.

Goes to show what too much coin and too young an age will do to some people.

I've seen a lot of bands over a lot of years but you just don't see acts today command a show like some of the oldies did.

It's only 17 points, but a particularly sad passing.

Just wasted a minute or two to look back over the 2013 Death Pool and it looked like Burch and I had 42 points to win on the Hugo Chavez pick

I rolled over the living into the next poll but the 2014 poll didn't have much participation nor enthusiasm. Who won? Who cares?

So a late refresh for 2015
    • Pam Anderson (Hep -C still ain't pretty)
    • Bob Dylan ( I watched him play in 2012 and thought he was dead them)
    • Kirsten Dunst (meth head?)
    • Rob Ford (Toronto re-elected crack smoker)
    • Bashar al-Assad (a gimme.. or not?)
    • Bill Cosby (he's earned it)
    • Hugh Hefner (hanging with Pam can't be good)
    • Pope Benedict XVI (the quitter)
    • Dick Cheney (wishful thinking)
    • Keith Richards (though vampires never really die do they?)
