we're on the same page with Wieters. those may be the only real options, so either one's an upgrade and can bridge us to Leon
he's pitched less than 98 innings over the last 2 years as a " 98MPH starter " and he wasn't very good when he was able to take the hill either. it's time to start getting a return on some of these back end investments.
No, it's called tampering. Just like teams had to ask the Dodgers permission to talk to our coaching staff at various points over the last few years for various managerial jobs that opened, the Dodgers would have to ask Tampa's permission to talk to Maddon.
Yeah. You really can't do anything that makes it sound like you're luring a player or even manager over before their contract is up without asking first. It'd be stupid for us to do anything without asking the Rays. And Maddon doesn't seem like a guy who would be cool having those discussions.
If they were to call him up insinuating leaving the team this year or next without the Dodgers asking the Rays first, he seems like a guy who wouldn't want to hear about it. He's a professional. And doing that would be unprofessional.
not that a Colletti needs to be a snake because the Dodgers now have Friedman, but how does MLB go about proving this happened between two guys that are well-documented buddies? it'd be about as hard as the NBA catching Kobe calling/tampering with Dwight when Dwight was with Orlando. i mean it sounds good and all as far as professionalism goes, but it happens and it's rarely caught. that's what i meant when i said " what discussions? " just now
I was going to say, command > speed. Besides the guys throwing 98 are usually the ones on the operating table soon enough.
