I did. Funny thing. I was at the auction in '04 when Tom Mozart bought his for a (then) record 14MM, when the last one had traded a couple years earlier at 9. Everyone thought he was out of his mind! :) Who's laughing now?

So was (the normally PC) Nomar, and he called him out for exactly that on the post game show.....twice!

    im glad to hear that
maybe its going to be all analytics all the time now but that was assinine
and i don't think there's any type of baseball math that would not move runners into scoring in those situations
avoid the double play most likely
get a guy to third w less than two outs
put another run on the board
    common sense kinda shit
if that makes me old to think like that then i'm a fucking fossil
fuck the shift and launch angles
    its dull and predictable

    Fucktards are good GM's.
They should stick to what they do best.
    Because they suck at managing.

Hope would be that Dave is a fucking awesome manager.
But he being young in the role has had to pay his dues in terms of following the script laid down by the brass.
Yet still adding his touch here and there when he thinks he might be able to get away with it.
And as he grows more as a manager in terms of the confidence he has in his decisions and the knowledge of when to go rogue and when to follow the script... he should be on pace to someday soon break away from the executive control.
Which would hopefully be what the nerds wanted all along.
To put on the training wheels only to relish in the fact that their little boy is all grown up and they can yank them off and push him down the street with the wind hitting his back.

“I would expect him to believe in me there and want me in that spot. It’s obviously not the way we wanted to start September, but there’s a lot of games left, there’s a lot of things left to be unplayed and done. This is a time for us where we really just have to take a step back and look at this series and move on. We have the Padres coming into town and every game from here on out counts. For everyone back home, don’t panic. We’re going to be fine. We have to wash our hands, shower up and get the hell out of L.A.”

    Our house!

Something worth watching is we’re 1.5 back of the Braves for home field if we play them in the NLDS. Still might be too early to think about that though.

And happy Labor Day. Go unions!

Kike's role in the wins this weekend can't be overstated.

Great defensive play for the first out in the 9th Saturday and a perfectly placed sac bunt in the 9th yesterday. Position players are rarely called upon to bunt in today's game and that he was able to execute so well in a pressure situation is to his credit.

Might be a good time to check out Kike's smokin' hot fiance...and they've got a cool dog too.
    A beautiful woman, indeed.
I kind of feel responsible for the Kike/finook thing on here, as I remarked and pointed out his jubilant pee pee dance he did when he first joined the team.
It seemed to catch on from then on.
But looking at this babe, I hardly think so. He's doing the pee pee dance with her...I'm pretty sure.
