Honestly, we're not going to know until these players make a name for themselves in MLB.

That article is silly cause who the hell knows. I mean it's worked out well to acquire a lot of talent but if Moncada ends up better then anyone the Dodgers get, was it worth it? Who knows

the nerds made a reasonable offer they felt comfortable with
he declined, and who can blame him
but instead of just signing one guy we were able to subsequently sign several
the quantity over [potential] quality argument
but if just one of those guys ends up being a good mlb player and/or someone we can use down the road in a trade, it'll be worth it
that said if moncada ends up being the next miguel cabrera then...
    time will tell

The next step in the argument is if Moncada ends up being a 'super' star, but we get 3 or 4 starting players who end up with nice careers, is that a losing situation?

    very subjective imo
depends on who's making the argument
but if those 3-4 get us to the promised land
let moncada be the star w/o a ring

What's with all these sensible and impartial answers?

It's either the nerds fucked up another one and are the worst thing since Bono, or everything our F.O does is a master stroke and they shit golden nuggets. Fucking bkitches.

It's a bummer that he turned down the Dodgers since they supposedly offered him more to wait a couple months, but I am in the camp that all these guys are lottery tickets and I would rather have more of them than less. Not to mention, it is still 5 months from the signing period being over and the team very well could sign some guys that are highly touted prospects still. Yeah they may not all pan out, but my guess is that more than a couple of these guys could be used in deals to get MLB'ers. The timing of Moncada sucked since they missed the rush at the beginning of the signing period. This was the smarter approach in my opinion.

Boston has got to be one of the worst cities to sign to, their media is invasive like a motherfucker and will turn on athletes at the drop of a dime.

Moncada is still trying to adjust to America, perform and going have to deal with that bullshit every night. Good fuckin luck.

It is interesting that these stars go there and then shit the bed right away. Crawford, Sandoval, Hanley, etc.

Not to mention he is blocked at the positions that make him most valuable.
