    Dodgers Acquire Michael Young
By Aaron Steen [August 31, 2013 at 9:59pm CST]

The Dodgers have acquired Michael Young from the Phillies, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets. Young waived his no-trade clause to allow the deal to go through, Rosenthal adds in a second tweet.

A widely discussed trade target in July, Young was connected with teams such as the Yankees and the Red Sox, but the Phillies opted to hold on to him as the deadline passed. The 36-year-old has a .272/.333/.389 line in 507 plate appearances this year, spending the majority of his innings in the field at third base.

@dodgerscribe: attempting to get confirmation on Young trade, was told via text "nothing yet."

Let's hope Rosendouche is trolling us.

Nowhere for him to play and he's old. And really not too good.

He's Juan Uribe with the bat but cannot play defense to save his life. Pretty fucking stupid.

He's better than Uribe offensively, but Uribe is about 10x better defensively.

Hmm right hand "power" off the bench? No way this guy should be starting defensively ever.

He's a great clutch hitter. He will come in handy in the playoffs. Uribe is going to be keeping Kemp company on the bench while the Dodgers win the world Series. Bye Bye Uribe!

@BillShaikin: Return for Michael Young described as a non-prospect minor leaguer. #Dodgers

I won't say great trade until I see what Ned gave up.

Very odd that we traded Rasmussen after White was so keen on acquiring him from Houston. We tried to draft him prior and he later signed with MIA. White really seemed excited when we had the opportunity to grab him. Fallen out of favor?

I would say Young is an upgrade over Hairston offensively off the bench, and at the cost of a 24 year old who flopped at AAA and was demoted, i'm good with it.

He's going to hit like 2 walkoffs in October. Bank on it.
