Seventh game of the year, and another potential no no taking shape again.

I made this prediction in ST, and reiterate, this Dodger team will break the most Ks by any LAD team lineup yet.
    Maybe Brooklyn, too.

Yeah. He’s a good pitcher but he’s neither an ace nor a workhorse. Remember Darvish was begging us to sign him?

Stanton is Barry Bonds and Otani is a poor mans Babe Ruth.
Those are once in a lifetime game changers.
    We xould have had both.
The revenue gathered from the fan hype would have covered the payroll tax.
The winning of a WS would have eclipsed the negative of carrying the massive salary of an aging Stanton.
    We blew it.

Not getting Stanton hurt because he would have eliminated the need to go after Harper. But not getting another SP stud or trying to get an 8th inning possible 9th inning closer alternative will probably hurt us more this year.

It is early, but I really hope against all hope the Guggs are not going to cheapskate their way next year after possibly sacrificing this season to stay under $197M. The Yanks also have the cash and Houston isn't going anywhere. Things can get ugly.

We needed another massive 50 HR type to compete with the Astros who have a team with good players like us but better.
Now the Yankees have those two 50 HR type tandem that we needed to batter the Astros.
We should refocus on having the best pitching in the MLB.
Clayton resigned of course. He would make a great 2nd or 3rd man in the rotation.
Jansen having issues opens the door for the team to add another closer without fear of 'offending' him like when we went after Chapman.
Cant be offended if you are no longer pitching like an elite closer. There will be a plethora of good closers in their prime as FA next year.
If the Dodgers can grab 2 of these great relievers we can lock things down. They will be much cheaper than the starters and the Harper/Machado types in terms of bang for your buck. The impact of 3 of these relievers will be greater in the next 3 years than one of these top hitters to the Dodgers.
Kenley got 5 years 80M. These guys will get much less per years because they do not have that pedigree of Kenley and are in the largest FA class ever that is also flooded with good players at their position.
1 Harper or Machado will start at 400M. So getting 3 relievers at 70M a year will make us better without that super commitment for the next decade.
OF's are a dime a dozen right now and we have a plethora of options there.
Josh Donaldson will be had at a super deal because of his age. He works well and he or Turner can move to 1B so Belliinger can go to LF if we truly want to improve on the Toles/Kemp/Joc/Verdugo level guy.
If we can steal a starter in his prime like Keuchel and put big money on him then the team has to do it. Pair him with Kershaw.
And pair him with a proven veteran guy in the Rich Hill role like Cole Homels. Lots of old guys that can be paid for a year or 3 to come in and get us over the hump.

And of course the most important guy we have to get next year is FA Jonathan Villar.
    :D

    2B: Taylor
    SS: Seager
    3B: Turner
    1B: Donaldson or Daniel Murphy
    LF: Bellinger
RF: Puig or Toles/Verdugo if Puig is gone in FA.
    DH: Kemp/Villar
    C: Grandal/Barnes
    CF: Toles/Verdugo/Joc/Kike/Villar

    Kershaw, Keuchel, Wood, Hamels/Hill, Urias/Buehler
Kenley, Zach Britton, Cody Allen, Greg Holland and if possibly Andrew Miller.

In case you have never understood. Jonathan Villar is a joke.
