Anyone can look like a genius with hindsight. I hate those types of calls. NFL Radio is the worst for that.

Well, no one really knows when that person felt that way...could have been the minute he heard it or read it in the media, right? Might have hated it from the get go. So now is actually verbalizing it...I'm not saying there aren't turds out there, but not everyone who gives an opinion that differs from yours is... whatever.
Quite honestly, you read about "Monday morning quarterbacks, hindsight, etc". all the time, for years. Every sport.
How is a fan supposed to measure a trade or acquisition until after it's done? The FO, called geniuses and touted for their blanket brilliance makes a move, which to most, is a bit unsettling at least...are you supposed to know before it is made? How does that work?
Initially, you trust these guys and assume the big bucks they make is justified...but then...in someone elses's opinon that trade sucks. So then, you hear about hindsight is 20/20...can you weigh it all at any other time as a fan? So, you're quiet at first, then if you do comment , you're a jerk?
Doesn't it all come down to really..."if they (radio callers, other posters, etc.) disagree with me, they're idiots (or morons) or whatever"...?

    Mattingly Addresses Anxiety Over Postseason
Posted by: Deborah Thompson Posted date: October 06, 2015

For teams that qualify for postseason play, there’s little rest for the weary after navigating the grind of a 162-game regular season schedule. In the case of the Los Angeles Dodgers, October baseball not only means brighter lights, but extremely high expectations.

The Dodgers won the National League West a third consecutive season, but have yet to advance beyond the NL Championship Series over the last two years. Now on the brink of beginning another postseason run under manager Don Mattingly, the 54 year old addressed the handling of any angst.

“It’s going to be there. I think we just know that playoffs are a time where a lot is on the line and each game is really important,” Mattingly said on Tuesday. “So you just kind of embrace it more than worrying about it. Just be ready for it. We have a lot of guys who have been through it before, so it shouldn’t be a big surprise.”

Despite guiding the club to another 90-plus win season, Mattingly is viewed by many as being on the hot seat in some capacity. He survived the Dodgers’ front office makeover, which was largely attributed to his strong relationship with controlling owner Mark Walter.

After reaching the NLCS in 2013, losing to the St. Louis Cardinals in six games, the Dodgers were eliminated by the Cardinals in the 2014 NLDS. Although Los Angeles has had to overcome several injuries this season, they remain a favorite to advance past the New York Mets and reach the World Series.

Game 1 of the NLDS between the Dodgers and Mets is scheduled for Friday with a 6:45 p.m. PT start time. The series figures to boast strong pitching performances, and Jacob deGrom and Clayton Kershaw will be the first to put that theory to the test.

Jansen allowed a base hit to Ethier in his simulated game (one inning). Retired Puig, Rollins and Kendrick. Now Howell is pitching.

So according to Curt Sandoval, Puig was on the bench in street clothes today watching everybody else do their thing. He thinks it's a sign that Puig will not be on the roster, but reportedly they've already made the decision one way or another..just haven't made it public yet. We'll see what it means.

These two posts back to back don't make sense.

You sure you heard Saxon say that? Most reports have Puig there taking batting practice and doing drills with everyone else.

I'm listening to 710 right now. Not Saxon, but Curt Sandoval.

That guy is talking out of his ass. Cause yeah, I've seen pictures/vids of Puig today taking BP.

Also, Puig told a reporter he had made the roster.

I have too. He made it seem like Puig was given the news and pulled from practice.

Curt Sandoval works for channel 7. Doubt he knows anything. If he went on 710 he REALLY doesn't know anything. Lol

Mattingly confident in bullpen heading into NLDS
by Eric Avakian | Dodgers Nation — 2 hours ago

Heading into the final month of the regular season, the area of biggest concern for Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly figured to be the bullpen. Their struggles to protect leads was again a point of weakness for a team with World Series aspirations.

The bullpen turned a new leaf however, particularly down the stretch, and is one area where manager Don Mattingly feels some sense of relief compared to 2014. “I feel more comfortable this year than last, with the way the guys are throwing the ball right now,” Mattingly said of his 2015 bullpen.

“It’s a little bit more structured as far as kind of knowing where we’re going. The year before I felt pretty good about it, when we had the eighth sewed up and we knew what that was going to be. I think overall depth and quality of arms this year are better than last.”

Other than Kenley Jansen, the bullpen largely did not have any distinct roles. Mattingly relied on matchups, which was a philosophy the organization also instilled throughout the Minors. However, Mattingly recently acknowledged he’s focused on using Luis Avilan and Chris Hatcher in eighth-inning situations.

The bullpen’s troubles last season came one year after Brian Wilson proved to be an effective setup man for Jansen. Wilson was unable to duplicate that success in 2014, and the Dodgers’ never had a reliable eighth-inning reliever.

Prior to Avilan and Hatcher taking hold of that role, the Dodgers utilized Pedro Baez, Yimi Garcia, J.P. Howell and Joel Peralta, among others, during the eighth inning at various points in the season.

Mattingly views Mets’ pitching as biggest challenge in NLDS
by Eric Avakian | Dodgers Nation — 2 hours ago

As the regular season ended for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, the team got to enjoy a brief break in the schedule before ramping up for a third trip to the postseason in as many years.

For the Dodgers, scouting a team that was a second-half surprise and underwent multiple changes might be difficult. When a team like the New York Mets hit the streak that they did, everything was going their way, both offensively and defensively.

However, despite their roster changes this year, the one constant for the Mets was their pitching staff, led by a trio of right-handers. When asked what the biggest challenge posed by the Mets is, the answer was simple for Dodgers manager Don Mattingly.

“Their pitching. Their pitching is really good and they’ve got quality arms all the way through. And since they’ve made their trades, they’ve been a really good offensive club. I know they’ll be prepared, Terry [Collins, Mets manager] does a tremendous job,” Mattingly said.

“I know some of the coaches and I know they’ll be prepared for us. They’ve got a talented club. They’ve got a club that obviously didn’t finish the regular season probably the way they wanted, but that doesn’t have anything to do with now. They were an electric club after the break. They’re a confident team, young and excited, so you just never know what’s going to happen.”

The Dodgers will face the young trio of Jacob DeGrom, Noa Syndergaard and Matt Harvey, in that order in the National League Division Series. The three pitchers combined for a total of eight career starts against the Dodgers, with positive results.

For his career, DeGrom is 0-2 against Los Angeles, but of course win-loss doesn’t tell the complete story. Both losses were suffered in 2014 and in his lone start against the Dodgers this season, things faired pretty well for DeGrom.

On July 26, the 27 year threw 7.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks in a no-decision. Harvey saw the Dodgers twice this season, with one start on the road and one at home. On July 4, he suffered a loss at Dodger Stadium in a game the Dodgers won, 4-3.

Harvey threw five innings and allowed three runs on seven hits, while also handing out five walks. Syndergaard has the smallest sample size against the Dodgers, with only one career start under his belt.

At Chavez Ravine, the 23 year old threw six innings of one-run ball, though didn’t earn a decision in the Mets’ win. Should the teams play to a Game 4, New York is expected to turn to Steven Matz, so long as he’s healthy.
