Why the venom about a rumor? I just don't get the outrage, so now everyone takes Heyman's word as law? It's not like we are the only team rumored, now if they stupidly sign him count me in on the outrage.

Damn Ned straight to hell for shoring up the bench with an excellent defender!

Wilson and Sellers are the exact same player. Sellers is cheaper, just go with him

I think part of the concern is that this is so typical Ned and seems to fit the prototype of the players we either sign or are rumored to be interested in. Is there anyone 27-30 who we might be interested in as infielders. He has been more youthful in the outfield like with Gwynn etc. Don't ask me to name the etc. Also we seem to be talking to folks in the same inexpensive price range and that might concern some folks. I think a few more stud player rumors would be helpful.

It could be, (just my take of course), that there are 100 gloves out there in MLB on the rosters and FA and in the cummulative minor league systems, that are "excellent defenders". Shake a BB tree and 50 good gloves fall out of it...whereas the LAD problem has been , was last year, and probably forever will be (except for tiny periods of offensive might-a la pre drug usage by Manuela), a guy who can hit with a little power, and authority. Other than guys like Kemp, etc. Defense was hardly our problem for the last coupla years. Three GGs--should have been 4 last year.
"Good defenders" are not at a premium...they're all over the fucking place. We've got Uribe and Sellers and...so and and so forth, don't we already?
Want to shore up the bench? How about a guy with a stick for once? Like Olmedo or someone again...You know, like other teams have.
Miles and Carroll were pleasant, but unexpected surprises we were told, last year. "Never will hit .290 again" we were told...I guess that's what Ned is figuring on again. A Wilson career year on offense...
Maybe this is part of the Ned signing mystery solved; guys like this who will suddenly become hitters...sort of like his formula with pitchers---sign previously injured guys who at one time WERE very good. But suck with us. The list is as long as Eugenio's ofer streak.

Doumit on turning down Dodgers' offer: nothing against them, but intrigued by idea of playing in the American League.

I hope they get Rollins. That guy is gonna fucking suck in AT&T park in terms of power. They'll over pay and be stuck with him, like they were with Rowand.

Honestly, this is good to hear. I hate on the guy all the time but we know we aren't getting Prince so it's reassuring to know Loney will be there.

Well, let us hope Loney's .200 BA days are over. I don't like Ned boasting of his HR count, though. It seems that might have been what wrecked Loney's swing in the first place - they were trying to turn him into a bopper. Let him hit doubles - and leave it at that. Anyway, this does keep Juan Rivera anchored in LF. That means Sands will have a tough time making the grade - he's up against all that salary out there - no room to develop. I wonder if we also re-up the junior Gwynn? Oh, I'm really hoping Sands will not be sent to the Pirates.
