Baez looks so calm out there lol. It's super weird and this is purely off memory but it seems like this year he hasn't really had many devastating outings. When he gives up runs they either aren't a big deal or not something soul crushing and embarrassing.

Looks like we have a chance to catch the Spankees. Catching the Astros is a lost cause.

So what is the verdict on Hill. Will he just be an opener in the playoffs? That seems to be a risky strategy. The A’s got burned doing that last year when games counted.

Then again, I have little faith in any other potential starter. And what is the deal with Kelly in relief?

He's been pretty damn steady ever since his trip to the minors early last year.

Admire his guts, but Hill is an accident waiting to happen.

Kelly's status seems to be a mystery.

My guess is Hill will go 3 or 4, Stripling will come in for one time through and then the bullpen. May not be the worst way to get 6 innings in the playoffs. We are going to see something different this year as I expect Gonsolin, Urias and Maeda to be used for potentially 2 innings at a time. Baez, Jansen, Kelly and Kolarek will be the one inning or less brigade. Even more of a reason that Kelly’s injury is a bit of a blow.

What’s the tiebreaker against the Astros? I assume the Yankees is head to head?

Division record. I don’t know why, but that’s the tie breaker after head to head. Astros have absolutely feasted on their division, so they win that tie breaker over us.

Speaking of division records, it still irks me that the NL West is talked about as a bad division, when the Yankees and Astros records are due to them feasting on their shitty divisions.

Teams ranked by record OUTSIDE their division:

    1. Dodgers (and it's not close)
    2. tie: A's and Rays
    4. tie: Astros and Twins
    6. Braves
    7. Yankees

Yeah, it's a strange tiebreaker for the WS. Head-to-Head should always be the first tiebreaker, I like that. After that, I would think interleague play record would make the most sense for the WS. Or run-differential. Coincidentally, we would lose those 2 tiebreakers to the Astros as well... so it is what it is.

.792 OPS this month and .450 slugging. Last month didn't bother me much. The average/OBP dropped, but the slugging actually increased from the previous couple months. If we could have gone into the postseason feeling like Belli would at least run into a double or HR once or twice a game, wouldn't have been that bad at all given what he does with the glove. But now the MVP of the league should probably be batting like 6th or 7th....

Seeing a lot of weak ass ABs with defensive swings that we didn't see the first half of the year.
