I'll be at the game today. Not expecting great things from Ryu as that is not a great environment for his first game back. Hopefully the Dodgers can get to this Freeland kid, even if he is a lefty. Homegrown player making his first start on opening day in Coors could mean he's a bit overamped. They've been talking about it since the team announced the rotation. Hopefully we get into their bullpen early as they have been overworked already in the first series.
I know all about Coors, and grotesque distance being achieved by normal fly balls, curves that don't bite, huge run- up scores, etc., etc. Got it. But for every thin air HR, huge bat-around inning, flattened out No.2's that the Rockies get playing in Coors, doesn't the opposition get the same advantage as they do, pray tell? Or does it all go away when the visiting team is AB? Just wondering if that ever is given a thought when the Rockies are playing defense...
Of course we had to catch Anderson in the finale... and then backdoor that one w/Lester 3 of the next 4 against lefties.

Pitchers that work at slower speeds tend to struggle a bit more here as that is the stuff that flattens out the most and can become BP junk. A pitcher can still get away more with hard stuff if he throws in the mid 90's and gets some sink to it. Yes, they still need to locate, but the Rockies finally figured out that the pitchers that have the most success here are the ones that bring it and sink it. Basically not a single pitcher in the Dodgers rotation pitches like that. I take it into account when I look at our matchups. You also have to consider the weather. Like last year I predicted there was going to be a high scoring game based on the flyball pitchers and the fact it hadn't rained in a month so conditions were pretty dry. What we were treated to was a high scoring, HR affair. It's going to be in the mid-70's today and there is still a crispness in the morning air from the rain/snow we have gotten in the last week, so Ryu may be good, I just worry about how much this spring he has lived up in the zone and that can always be dangerous here.
That is all well and good and sounds clever to gear your pitching staff to the idiocyncrasies of the team's ball park ( as any savvy team does)...But given since 1993, wtf have they accomplished with all this supposed atmospheric advantage? Not too much.
Rich Hill to the 10 day DL (blister) Workhorse LAD calls up Josh Fields..guessing Wood takes Hill's next start
As suspected, this is something that will continue all fucking year with this guy. Five goddam innings, and Mr. Blister raises his head again. And in 10 days, everything will be hunky dory then?
HELLO...Shohei Otani has said he will sign w/ a MLB team after this season. Reportedly could miss out on around 200M by not waiting until he's past the new age limit, but has 0 fucks to give.
