The Padres were the better team today. I don’t see how we put together a win against them, but hoping for better feels tomorrow.

I've been pissed at them, disappointed by them, frustrated by them, and probably the whole gamut of emotions, associated with rooting for decades long losers, which they truly are.
But last night, I was simply ashamed of them.

Kind of wanted see the Pads lineup turn over in the 8th. Would liked to have seen Sborz stick one in Grisham's ribs.

Clown shit showing up a Hall of Fame pitcher like that. I get the bat drop and stuff like that, but that was over the top.

An argument could have been made to leave Kershaw in. The two hits he gave up were a ground ball to deep short and jam shot to RF.

The way the baseball gods were treating our boys in that inning it probably wouldn't have made any difference.

Let’s win these next two and break these Padres hearts. They have one good season, in a shortened season, for the first time in over a decade and ppl wanna act like it’s a rivalry like they’re on our same foot, meh

also, winning the division this year is mostly a pride thing since the difference between a 1 and 4 seed is basically: do u start out facing the Giants or the Marlins? Which, who care lol

Muncy has been a god damned waste of space this season. Putrid offense and it seems to be impacting both parts of his game as his defense has been brutal. He only has 3 errors this year, but that masks the mental errors and sheer flops on what should be routine plays. I can't believe how every fucking one of our lefty bats BUT ONE has completely face planted this season. It is unreal to have 3 former all stars, the #2 prospect in baseball and 2 young guys that basically just hit be sooo fucking useless! All the while, 3 batters in our lineup are putting up MVP caliber seasons at the plate and a 4th is having his career year! Those 3 vets just put up close to their career numbers and we aren't complaining here. Instead they are regressing faster than dudes in their mid-30's. You can tell that those first 4 guys I mentioned are totally inside their own heads with this shit too. Terrible weak hacks and takes right down the middle, it has been unreal to fucking watch. Our pitching can not weather an offense this mediocre for a deep playoff run. There have been some GREAT stories this season too and to have it spoiled by a this lot is absolutely fucking crushing. We need Turner back in a big way just to get a little more consistency in the lineup and basically roll with Taylor now while the 6 mentioned below can scrap together playing time not at the cost of the 6 guys that are actually contributing.

    Muncy .732 OPS (Career .848)
    Bellinger: .707 OPS (.906)
    Joc: .656 OPS (.806)
    Lux: .599 OPS
    Beaty: .638 OPS
    Rios: .718 OPS

Weak swings, terrible takes and fouling off pitches that should have ended up in the seats.

They need Turner back in the worst way.

Late edit.......sounds like he might be back tonight. Looking like Bozo will make the start Wed.

Was going to post something very similar to this, less detailed and not expressed as well. But for all the dismissals and pooh poohing of the Padres for what they are now because of what they were then, is very faulty logic.
As LAD fans, we have to dilute any successes another competitor has, bcause results are what counts, and we just don't have what we need in that area. Endlessly.
You can take their two best and weigh them against our two best, and it's minimally a draw. If our remaing lineup should be better than theirs...it certainly isn't happening that way. Players like Turner and Buehler can't stay on the field for long, it looks. That counts. And for us, a big detriment. Really big.
Their starting staff is better...their BP is better now.
I see Bellinger, Muncy and Joc as total washouts, at least this season. Muncy may have had his career years, it's possible.
Lux is a yawn, for me anyway.
Their FO went James Holzhauer all in for it, ours, aside from Mookie, let two stalwarts from the SR go, smugly thinking, I guess, the two kids that go 4/5 innings and Wood could replace them? And a already deteriorating Jansen was sufficiently talented to still close? Huh?
And then there is Dave Roberts, imo, whose presence as the button pusher will never get it done.
Sounds more and more to me that being 'elite' is the brass, uh, tin ring that will suffice for them.
Pretty soon, we may not be hearing the" Dodgers are the best team in baseball"so much anymore.

none of this is untrue and yet, it’s pretty funny to have all of this and still have the record and amount of runs scored we’ve had. It’s definitely concerning, but at same time, others are making up for it and if just a couple of those guys get better... basically, to have our current results yet different areas we can look at for improvement isn’t a bad thing!

the one consistent thing I like about our offense is the lack of strike outs (although yesterday fucked with that). We’ve been at top of league in K%, which we didn’t in previous years, and it’s been shown that playoff success happens for teams that don’t K much

That is the thing, we do have the best record, but the holes are becoming more noticeable. Early on we were aided by the pen being absolutely brilliant to build and keep the momentum out the gate. Then the cracks started forming at the beginning of the month. The pen has still been solid, but it seems we are good for someone to implode now every couple of games, not good since those implosions are from guys that will be on the postseason roster. We still have the most dangerous pen top to bottom in the league at current in my opinion, but that is not going to make us a WS winner alone(ask the Yankees of years past). I think too many people are looking at this as, "we're 48 games into the season. These bats will get going!" When what they should be saying is "There are 12 games left in the season, these guys are running out time." We are talking about 3 of our most important bats of postseason's past not being anywhere near where we need them to be. Those guys are Joc, Muncy AND DAVID FUCKING FREESE. That is what is scary to me as some of our best bats at current have been guys that have catastrophic playoff resumes. I am looking and hoping that some of these guys get going, but they are truly running out of time.

yeah that’s fair, it’s easy to see how this team loses, as it is every year. I guess my point is that the pitching and Mookie/Seager have been so good they make up for a lot, and it hasn’t been smoke and mirrors to get our record (the run differential has been Amazing all year) and tbh, even if Bellinger/Muncy/Joc/Enrique were OPSing over 1.200 we’d all still be worried they were gonna whiff on every slider coming to them this playoffs. I’m enjoying the results so far in this weird season and even though They all look out of whack, but we just need them to keep the K’s down and hopefully run into some. I have the same nerves and concerns as every year, and every year we run into that same 1-2 week stretch of “oh shit, everything looks bad” but the playoffs are the playoffs and we just gotta hope for the best, unless u don’t wanna hope for the best lol.

i fear another early postseason exit is inevitable
i could see one of the currently inept guys heating up, but no way all of them
and cody won’t be the one
but fret not, roberts will continue to ride them regardless
and unless he starts letting the young guns go longer than 4-5 innings we’re cooked — especially since (as @doyerfan pointed out in the news/rumors thread) the 5 and 7 game series will be played on consecutive days with no off days
postseason may be a crapshoot but we’ll be going in with some serious flaws

I kind of wish I could attain your Nirvana...I really do. Probably, your involved, busy life in all aspects, is a big boost to it. I place just too much damn importance on it, it's true.
But the impending disappointment might be that proverbial straw for me this time.
