In Game 5 against the Yankees the Rays could have pitched Snell on short rest and did not. They pitched Glasnow on shorter rest but just for 2 innings. Other than that, no one has pitched on short rest for them.

My guess is the Rays won’t pitch anyone on short rest because pitching one person on short rest means pitching everyone on short rest, and Game 4 won’t be an elimination game anyway.

As for the Dodgers, they will pitch May in relief of Kershaw in Game 5, have him throw a simulated game on the off day, and then have him start Game 6 expecting him to go 8 innings (then they will be surprised when his command is shit).

Two starting pitchers who have performed well on the big stage. Let's see who blinks first.

So some chatter yesterday that Dodgers might consider starting Barnes more because of his pitch framing. I think there’s a little more to it: I think his framing is one, but also his overall defense against a team that runs, and also his game calling has seemed much better than Wills.

it comes down to: does the gap between the two defensively exceed the gap between Barnes and the hitter he’d be replacing (for today that’d be Edwin or pollock prob)

A little interesting also is the next two games... game 4 is against a lefty presumably (but kinda a bullpen game) and game 5 is one where Barnes is catching Kershaw

game 4 the offensive gap is Barnes replacing one of Pollock/Enrique against a lefty

just something to think about. I think 90% of the time I go with offense over anything and, Smith’s defense hasn’t been like god awful but some of the game calling, ah...

Also, offensively, today is a NIGHTMARE for will Smith since he struggles with curveballs and Morton has an elite one. Actually we have a few dudes who are gonna be carved up by it (Taylor, Edwin, I think Joc and Cody also). Might take some real advanced analysis to put together a lineup with guys who match up best against Morton

This goes back to Buehler's postgame presser after his last start where he raved about Barnes "walking him through" the tough situations. Offensively no one is jumping off the page as an obvious DH option. I hate to say it, but I think I start Barnes tonight.

Actually does seem like Barnes will catch. I think he catches games 3 and 5, idk about 4

so, lineup I bet would be our regular 1-6, followed by Taylor, Joc, Barnes.

Offensively, Barnes is 6 for 17 these playoffs compared to 2 for 14 for Edwin and 8 for 50 for Pollock (I’m comparing to those two since that’s the bats he’d potentially replace against Morton... doubt they bench Joc)

obviously Barnes doesn’t have nearly enough power as Edwin or even Pollock but I don’t think those two have lit it up enough to make this a crazy call. We’ll see!

I would start Joe Kelly tonight. No wait follow along. I would have him hit Arozarena and then give Morton the death stare. He (Morton) knew the Stros were cheating.

Ok so I wouldn't actually do this but I think it would be cool.

gayJ Pollock is 0-9 in his career vs Morton which is also his stat line for his last 9 plate apperances(probably)

Hopefully that scrub isn't near the lineup.

My daughter just turned 3 and she will watch the games with me, and she likes to point at the players and say "Who's that?" So I will answer, that's Cody, Clayton, Corey... or whoever it is. Not realizing she actually remembered any of the names, the other day I asked her who her favorite Dodger was and without hesitation she said, "Walker." This morning I told her Walker is pitching, and needless to say she is over the moon.

Maybe a little unfair but I have the highest of expectations for Buehler. He’s been great all playoffs and we always need him to be great but man..this Rays lineup (outside of randy) struggles with fastballs and Buehler’s is elite

just hope the offense finds a way to rally. They’ve made Cash feel nervous about his relievers since they didn’t look dreadful against Anderson/Fairbanks. Let’s go. Huge win in front of us

I missed the apology, you're a good man for owning up to your mistake and taking responsibility.

    The Astros don't like this.
