thanks and sincere question do you ever think of monetizing the place somewhat to at least pay the bills? not a fan of ads or all that comes with them but at some point doesn't it make sense on your end?
oh geez what site? where did i drop a link? you would think if i was trying to influence people i would not post like i do you gave me back administration permissions after i gave them to you and you took them the mod forum is all full of posts about me wanting to make everyone a mod or at least make the mod forum available to be seen by users im always about transparency and sharing of control i would make anyone that wanted to help a mod and any mod an admin i dont know why you would say things like this throught the time you were in the mod forum we always agreed on everything i did in fact i never took action unless i was sure that you and irish felt the same way tis a shame but oh well if you really believed any of this negativity about me why would you give me back all of the forum admin rights recently? its not like i could fix anything without server access, so why make me think you had had a change of heart/mind about what happened? if you still think im controlling why do i have admin rights? because its stupid if you are saying that 'ruven wants to run a site, any site' when i de-facto run this site im here everyday and people ask me about bugs and problems and say i should fix them but I cant fix the problems because you wont share control of the server the way i would willy nilly share with you do you think im going to go in and change the passwords and do something to lock you out and take away your control? is that what you did to me? because i honestly never went to check on the server to see if my old passwords still worked i figured what for you wanted control that bad ok finksi and I havent had a problem in the longest time i like a lot of his funny takes and he has mellowed out a ton i figured i would let you have some time with it and find out if you maybe made a mistake and i took it as an apology when you gave me back admin rights and started replying to my messages again and bringing me in the loop about the problems so whats the deal? do you want me as an admin here or do you think i was to usurp your control because one post you say im not trying to sabotage DSP and in the following post you say i just want control of it, and/or of anything. so lets see diablo cant figure out my motives because its not money and you think my motive must be control jeez guys, it seems like maybe things are about money and control for you guys i know why i come here to take grief from people you can just ask me why if anyone cares for the love, i love everyone here
well you say it would suck if it came to an end and i agree w that Tafnac isn't asking anyone for money but it strikes me as a little unfair to let him shoulder the costs alone and there are absolutely costs to running a website so imo its pick your poison i'm sure you post on other sites that either charge a nominal annual membership or carry ads of some sort the brave search engine eliminates nearly all ads so it doesn't really bother me since i don't see them anyway when everyone ponied up last time the money didn't get spent on the site so without Tafnac coming out of pocket the site would have died certainly if it would suck for the site to disappear its worth something isn't it?
Nope. Just do this for the group. Plus there's not enough traffic to monetize it. Most ads are on the order of a fraction of a cent or so per view, and a few cents of you get a click. Need millions of views to make any money.

That was one of the longest sustained laughs in TV history that night on Carson. I remember it like it was yesterday. Do you remember it? Dean Martin and Fred Astaire were the two in tuxes. Gobel wore plaid. Another record one was about ice fishing by Burt Mustin, a 90 something guy who was popular then. And another was when Basil Fawlty ( John Cleese ) took a black comb and put it under his nose like Hitler and his wacked-out little 'stache and was goose stepping and heiling around the dining room.
i put an ad once ala made me do it i love ala so i did he was one of my first admins and i went against my own conscience and put up an ad for a week or two we made a few hundred bucks i mean i made a few hundred bucks lol i quickly took it down of course ads = cia ids as you say its all about control some people want to control, others want to be controlled

This is the only place I go to talk Dodgers. I’ve gotten to know you all through this site. I would hate to see it end. Let me know what we can do to keep it going, if not here somewhere else I don’t care. We’re in the middle of a golden age of Dodger baseball and sharing this with this group makes it even more fun. Of course. With more members like you who have this kind of attitude there is no reason this place cant shine again. We used to have all kinds of features and hundreds of people on at once all talking sports and playing games. We even had a casino! It used to be expensive to run when we had a lot of people. DSP is essentially free to run now because of the low user load and because of how cheap this is all gotten. Anyone already paying for a server for something else can run this site on the side for free with no problem. Its no longer 2001. And there is no longer a need for expensive forum software that only has benefits we no longer need at such a small size. Then even if we did need them. There is just so much better out there for pennies in comparison. All I want is for DSP to be great again. For fun. This is a nice hobby. I never made any money off you guys. I spent countless all nighters with the original staff and poured out my heart and my wallet for a long time. And I always protected your data. All for the love of the game. There are a few here who are trying to pin the tail on the donkey trying to figure out what my agenda is. They really cant understand someone doing something for the love of it. You love DSP and you dont want it to die. You dont care who gets custody of the baby as long as the baby is being taken care of. You are putting DSP first. In fact anyone that has any opinion that is not similar to yours has an agenda. Every time someone has said something like what you are saying I have given it a like and acknowledged to everyone that THIS is the attitude/way. Anyone who says otherwise is trying to manipulate the situation instead of wanting what is best for the group. Like a politician.
