Not the sort of game a champion team should lose. Starter shuts out the home team for 6 innings with 2 runs to hold it .... you slam the door hard. Add a few runs too, huh? Wtf, Bums?

Edman will probably tweak his ankle 6 games into his return and be in the IL for at least another 60-day stint

Worst hitter on the team hit lead off and went 0-4.

    Shocking stuff

Dodgers emptied out their box of Lucky Charms in the first seven innings. A lot of Dback line drives found Dodger gloves. Dodgers' only two runs were a result of Nelson falling asleep on the mound and two outfield misplays.

Luck ran out in the eighth. Klein had nothing. His worst outing as a Dodger. Hanging slider after hanging slider (or sweeper or whatever they call it). Vesia served up a batting practice fastball for the tying run. Scott put the cherry on top. Not sure that ball has landed yet. Fuck Marte.

It was no Sho, no go for the Dodger lineup. First three hitters were 0-12. Rushing looked totally lost.

Muncy has a knack (or the misfortune) for freaky injuries. It was a combination of an inexperienced 1b, a pitcher failing to cover first and Muncy playing balls out. Glad it appears he's OK, although it looks like he's going to sit out tonight.

Occurred to me the other day that Mookie has morphed into a later day Mark Belanger.

    Great field, no hit.

He looked like someone else out there...as if he was physically injured in some way. No zip, no command, nothing at all to speak of. Looked really fatigued and unfocused.
    Vesia not so impressia, either.

Unfortunately, if Shohei ever goes on the IL, I don't think the Dodgers will look like the same team. They'll resemble last night's version, I fear. He has taken up the Mookie and Smith extended doldrums, and they are in first place.
But really: no Sho...and the team turns to shit.
The team just depends on him too much...it can't always be on one guy.

Tucker needs to step up. There are 60 million reasons why he can't just be a complementary piece contributing every once in a while. One of the reasons Dodgers signed him was to inject more youth into the lineup, so he needs to stop playing like an old man. I know he doesn't like the attention and expectations that come with being one of the star players, but if he truly felt that way, he should've taken less money... much less.

I was on a long car drive during yesterday's game so I tuned into the D-Backs broadcast on XM. Their two game announcers were dissecting Tucker's swing every time he came up. Their conclusion was that despite his HR and multiple hits the game before, it doesn't look at all like he's trying to drive the ball. Instead, it seems like he's trying to finesse it to a spot, much like a tennis player would. I don't know why that would be his approach, but if the Dodgers hitting coaches can't fix it, maybe he needs to see a sports psychiatrist or something.

Is this something new with him? I admit, I was aware he was sought after, but knew nothing about his approach to hitting.
And in the whole sense, besides him, the Mookie vintage JU-52 dive bomber status, along with a Will Smith who looks like a sleepwalker all of a sudden...if this doesn't right itself, I see a very worn out Japanese lead/off hitter/ pitcher at season's end.

i have no idea what to expect from sasaki tonight
he could just as easily give up 6 runs in 2 innings as he could throw 6 shutout innings
