Mookie Betts is killing us at cleanup. I so. fucking tired of his can o corn pop flys night after night.
I called this game in the first inning...and then felt ashamed after Ward's grandy. But before it was over, my ugly feeling 3 hrs. ago holds true. A huge fucked up night for the team all around.
Congrats to Dave for batting Call for the kid...and for letting Ohtani come out for the seventh, which he didn't need to.
Sickening game on many counts.

 

don't disagree w any of this i just get tired of blaming davey for everything. still when Sho walks the first guy maybe he comes out? or Hurt...and mookie cleanup is just daft.
still i look at this game as a little bit of payback for that shellacking they put on them last night. pen just fucked them tonight. and muncys error didn't help.
i'll wash this off w the ash tree clippings and remembers they're up 8.5 or 7.5 and davey will be the manager likely for the remainder of my life.

But Dave's stunada habit of trying to get too much out of a pitcher from his get go as a rookie manager has hurt us waay more than helped us over the years. Maybe Shohei told him " I good to go more", Idk. And then Dave should tell him " I'm the manager Ohtani-san, so sayonara for pitch more".
But Dave loves the ass-pat approach to his game, especially to his pets like Sho and Mook, and strategy be damned.
Mookie, in his present form, should be batting no higher than 7 th, imo. With his approach at tbe plate, has become the indisputable Prince of Popups.
Call me crazy, but do you need that at cleanup ?
I do get your point about the 7 game lead, but as the great philosopher Joseph Torre once said " it's not where you are in June, it's where you are on the last day of the season"...
Team's been pretty good at that for a long time...we'll see.

 

Had this one in the win column after the Ward slam. What could go wrong? Just about everything.

Hurt looked like a scared Little Leaguer. Deer in the headlights is too kind. Looked he was going to cry. He hasn't been nearly as sharp recently as he was at the start of the year. He should have been pulled after the HR. Instead he gives up another single. Gets bailed out by the stupid steal attempt and then gives up a double off the wall to the #9 hitter. He shouldn't see another high leverage appearance for a while. Dreyer comes in and pours more gas on the fire. He's another bullpen arm not pitching up to his 2025 form.

 

At least with Rushing. Anywhere but cleanup.
