Press Conference on MLB network now. Since we all know most don't have SNLA.

Kinda wish he wouldn't read from notes and just spoke from the heart, but whatever.

He asked Andrew house his experience in investment banking would help him in dumping bad contracts.

Not much to the presser but actions are what we're excited about, not words. Not like he's gonna give us inside info on a plan but he spoke well of winning > chemistry and needing a farm system

It might take awhile to see his effect but excited at least for winter. Barely though considering this postseason has made me hate the regular season

Simple. Keep doubling down until the whole system collapses. Didn't he learn anything from 2007-2009?

Did he mean that winning was better than chemistry? I'd be nervous about declaring that out loud.

@DodgerInsider: "If you're a team with great chemistry and wins 70 games, I don't want those 25 guys." - Friedman. Chemistry a narrative after the fact.

I still stand by the fact that chemistry in baseball is just a buzzword.

Either that or just the wrong word to use.

Well may be I have a different definition of chemistry. Like a scientist trying to synthesize something, you have a formula you think works by reading the literature on chemicals, their reactive qualities and characteristics, and their components and compositions. You add the mixture together based on your formula, and then you see if it creates or turns out what you are looking for.

To me, it doesn't mean the team has to get together and sing Kumbayah. But if you get the right people together, like the right formula, things just gel better. Everyone is on the same page. You don't have idiots thinking about their stats, or playing time, or what position they are being asked to play. They don't snipe about missing RBI chances or tweet their displeasure. They know how to move their teammates over if certain situations. They run the bases smart. They carry each other over the finish line. That's how teams win the games that count....you know, the ones where there is no tomorrow, there is no other game to increase your Batting Average or lower your ERA. These are the games the Dodgers continue to lose because the players are always thinking about their own glory and not grinding out wins and staying in games. There is a connection between how horrible this team was when losing in the 7th. They had, I think, the worst win record when faced with that situation.

That's "Bad Chemistry". So perhaps we should try something different this time.

It's also no coincidence that once Barry Bonds left the Giants, they started winning WS.

It's no coincidence that when you hear Morris' interview yesterday after the game, how he said everyone on the Giants pick each other up, care about each other, treat each other like family. When you are part of any team like that, I think you naturally want everyone to succeed. You want to contribute, and you grind it out to the end.

It's no coincidence that a guy like Ishikawa can drive in 7 RBIs. There is a reason why the Giants tied up games and won them late (like that 18 inning marathon).

These are things I wish we could say about the Dodgers.....but we can't.

Friedman is just saying the right things about a team he has inherited now. We'll see in time if he really believes that, or tries to do something different and better.

Chemistry is just a bullshit word to explain luck. Baseball has more parity than any other sport, we see the worst teams in the league sweep the best teams in the league all the time, and the media wants something to explain it, so they say "chemistry". There is such a thing as trusting the players around you to perform so you don't press, but a lot of players have done that sans chemistry. If anything winning --> chemistry, not the other way around. When you win, you're happy, and it's easier to get along.

Half the Dodgers team pissed in a pool together even though they knew the media would demonize them for it. If that's not chemistry I don't know what is. It didn't stop our hottest player from getting targeted in the ribs.

    Fuck "chemistry".
