I mean, maybe, but also they scored a lot of their runs off errors this postseason and then win the last game on homers

My hope is that the Royals solid defense can stop their BS runs.

Billy Ripken was like the 1 analyst who picked the Cards over the Dodgers and i remember thinkin " he better have a good reason "

and his reason was " i don't know. i just think the Cards get it done. " Lol

i remember thinkin after that " go ahead and just say it, Billy..Dodgers are idiots that don't play sound baseball. "

Discrediting Barry Bonds because the Giants never won a World Series with him is exactly why I hate the use of "chemistry".

Hate the guy, but he was the best hitter I've ever seen.

    Yeah fuck chemistry

I want 25 guys no one likes much less like each other.
I prefer long silent flights between cities, none of that whimsical chatter
Go out to dinner alone, it's a short season
Sit alone in the clubhouse before and after games, you're only paid to play
Over the course of 162 games, why enjoy any of it?

No wonder Friedman left Tampa, those guys all have fun together, it must have driven him batshit crazy

I agree. Besides, he made it to a WS, which is more than any Dodger team did in the same time. If there's a player with Bonds' talent I want him on my team.

Bonds didn't just have great physical talent, he was also fundamentally sound and extremely smart. he knew he'd only see 1 truly hittable pitch per AB, so he didn't go up there swinging out of his shoes 2 and 3 times every AB. he also trusted that Kent would step up behind him, have a professional AB himself and pick him up because he knew that Kent was a smart hitter as well. this chemistry stuff gets confused with trust a lot of the time. among being fundamentally sound, you have to have trust and unselfishness to win in October.

Sandoval has what you call a winning approach. all year long he swings at every pitch and sharpens his ability to hit with 2 strikes..he then gets to the playoffs and becomes patient at the plate, a lot of times spitting on the 1st and/or 2nd pitch in his playoff ABs and making his mind up to take those pitches before the AB even begins. opposing pitchers take the mound thinking Sandoval's gonna do what he's done all year and then he doesn't and the next thing they know it's a hitter's count and even when it isn't, Sandoval's so used to hitting with 2 strikes and covering the entire plate that he's still comfortable. with all that going for him, he becomes the toughest out come playoff time.

we need guys who have talent, who have fundamentals, who are unselfish, who are willing to trust, who are smart and who actually have a plan.

I've played ball my whole life. I had my main team in adult leagues which played for 17 years. After many years we became a spring/ summer season team only. Every fall / winter season I would be recruited by other teams. Sometimes I would play. Sometimes I'd skip the season. I've played with many different teams..really good teams with minor league guys and college guys who always found a way to lose in the first round of the playoffs after going 23-2 in the regular season and also played on a few 500 teams that didn't make the playoffs.

BUT...I've never had the most fun OR success than playing with my own boys..you just know where you fit, your guys are your brothers. You share your sucsess and failures...clear benches together.. talk shit to each othe right after you kill a guys tin. Your boy hits a bomb and everyone sits in the dugout like nothing happpened...then Fuck him up when he sits down..

You just can't do those things on a team where there is no chemistry. .chemistry is huge. Not everything but definitely huge.

Keep the foam parties going bkitches. ..

    This is true

But I've heard that the dodgers clubhouse was seriously divided. Fights and everything. Not gonna names names but it was bad. A tubby infielder was the glue that kept everything together

this story proves that chemistry is real...The team had nothing but talented players..with big money contracts..won the division.. and shit the bed when they needed to pull together as a team..All season long they sucked dick while trailing after 7. No comebacks outta the fuckers.. Playoffs they shit the bed once again.

Chemistry = Morale + Resolve AKA Faith = Spirit as in Fighting Spirit like Ryu and Ken from SF.
Its a special kind of swagger in knowing what chemistry is when you see it on the faces of those on your side.

Think of the hate from teammates who didnt roid but suspected or knew that Barry did. Or jealousy for his success.
Some of the stars on those SF teams were known to have guys with attitude or personality issues like Jeff Kent.
And the hate reflected to the team from the media towards Barry probably put his teammates off even if they didnt say so publicly.
    The weather sucks up there.
    They are the giants.
Many reasons why they could have had chemistry issues.
Chemistry involves more than just knowing that your teammate is qualified and can do his job well.
You want to know that when you drop a ball your teammate will be there to pick it up.
That when you misjudge a fly hes there to cover you without making you look bad.
And not just because he knows you would sacrifice an at bat in order to get him home .
But because he would do the same for you and so would any other of the guys on your side.

This "chemistry" argument is the dumbest shit I have ever read. Did we have great chemistry when we battled back from a 9.5 game deficit into first place and won the West? When Kershaw gave up a bases clearing double to Carpenter in game 1 to blow the lead, it was because not everyone in the dugout high fived each other in the previous inning. Lol, we lost because of lack of execution and a shitty bullpen. Not because the team doesn't circle jerk together. Our ace and the best pitcher in baseball this season blew two 7th inning leads because he was forced to stay in the game while ailing due to our below average pen that nobody trusted. Lack of bullpen, and Kershaw blowing two leads=Chemistry issues I guess.

So you're saying... "Chemistry" was important for Bonds?

Jeff Kent definitely "picked up" for Bonds the 1% of the time he didn't do his job. I'm pretty sure Kent won a MVP award there or finished top 3 in voting. Same reasons apply here, playoffs are a crapshoot and it wasn't their time. Feels weird completely dismissing it as that but baseball has proved it over and over again.
