I don't mind renewing our license. I'd asked about it a while back and no one seemed to care.

What's the "updating the design" part.

We also pay $25/month hosting and a few dollars a year for the domain name.

If we're asking for money, we should pay the utilities before buying shiny new toys.

 

Nobody cared back then, but somebody cares now. I replied to your thread about XF 2 recently saying I was on board. This is me being proactive about it.
XF2 has been out for a bit now and themes and addons are being created for it.
Back then it might have been too new for me to comment on without having the time to read up on it.

Updating the design is a new theme since older themes will break with XF2. You know how that is. Apparently, they rewrote a lot of how the system works to make it less steep of a learning curve. XF1 was still a bit too complex for what it needed to seems to be the prevailing mood.

The license + the new design + a few months of hosting and the domain name registration is about $200 which is what I asked for in the donation when I said that the campaign was for a couple hundred bucks.

I sense you object to something but I'm unsure what that is.

The mod forum moves slowly a lot of the time.

Just want to make sure that we're spending money the right way. Since we've been volunteer supported all this time, if we're asking for money it should offset costs.

Thank bz. While the site has always been fine as it is there have been times when we had a few bells and whistles that some of us enjoyed.
To those that didnt care for them it never got in their way.
The forum format has been outta style for a while on the internet but we will always keep it that way.

Your suggestion is very democratic and would be make things more successful. But i believe it would create some feelings of being compelled to put in their fair share.
I prefer disorganized order. Not fair share but your 2 cents. If folks got something to give then give what you want. If folks cant or wish not to thats good too. If we meet the goal we can move on faster to the next step. If not the rest will be made up in other ways over the next few weeks.

Thankfully DSP does not need the money to stay afloat. Craig has been doing his part sponsoring the site for many years so its not about that. It's about having a little fund to try new things.
I would like there to be more people around during Dodger games. Or to have life in the Lakers thread other than the 3 or 4 guys that post there sometimes.
