Demps was an idiot for not taking the deal reportedly offered to him. If he did it out of spite, that wasn’t wise.
funny to see the reports that now they were afraid they wouldn't be able to resign zubac. Nice spin front office because you couldnt sign any of the other buyout guys you really wanted. looks like melo is the only thing left and they better do it because if not, we gave up zubac for jack shit. Only hope is melo with bron will reenergize him somehow. might as well take the risk and pray he can be 1/2 of what he once was.
in the end i think this is going to be a bozo show a glimmer of hope w the young guys turned into a hodgepodge of fading vets chasing a title w mebron magic will fuck this up like isiah fucked the knicks great players but this is already off the rails and the team had a shot to at least make the playoffs not much but it would have been good experience for the young guys
it's just that way now it seems Yeah I'm not onboard with Melo being anyone's "only hope" especially the Lakers
Demps knew he was done from the moment AD/Paul told him privately that he wasn't re-signing. One of a few reasons why he decided to ignore the request
Told guys when the trade 1st happened, that Zu was going to get a solid payday from some small market team this offseason, so the report doesn't surprise me. And yet another good look at why they didn't try for Marc Gasol who's due $20M+ next season if he doesn't opt out. Melo isn't in basketball shape and I'd have to imagine that he sees this fragile ship sinking and probably doesn't want to be a part of it. It was all good when they were the 4th seed. Even with Zo and Hart returning soon, I could see this team missing the playoffs and miraculously winning the lottery for Zion or something crazy like that. The way these injuries are rolling in, just feels like somebody else will go down when Zo and Hart return, probably Kuz or LeBron again
I think he might have chosen to taken the advice of Pops over the best interest of his organization. That proved to ownership where his loyalties really lay. With Pops where he will probably always have a job waiting for him. Deserved his firing. Trading Mirotic for a bunch of picks was good if you dont plan to pay him but they could have kept him. The Pelicans would have been stacked and been a perennial contender with a bevy of picks coming AND cap space. PG: Lonzo, Elfrid SG: Jrue, E'Twaun SF: Ingram, Hart PF: Kuzma, Mirotic C : Randle, Zubac They got money to add another big money guy maybe sending Jrue to the bench.
Magic gets fined for tampering on natural response alone, right there on the draft lottery show for immediate reaction
If they sign Melo then might as well get Kobe and Ray Allen to come back from retirement after the all star game to save LeBron and the Lakers for one last playoff run. PG: Rondo, Lonzo SG: Allen, Hart, KCP SF: Kobe, Ingram PF: LeBron, Kuzma C : Melo, Javale, Chandler
Man, AD is probably gonna get traded to Boston, Leonard sounds like he'd rather play for the Clips, KD and Klay will stay in the Bay unless the Warriors do something stupid like not max them out. Magic and Pelinka are real close to having a major disaster on their hands. They need to hit one out of the park this off season.
Lakers should stick it to the Pelicans by trading LeBron to the Celtics for Rozier, Tatum, and Brown plus picks. PG: Lonzo, Rozier SG: Ingram, Hart SF: Tatum, Bullock PF: Kuzma, Brown C : Javale, Wagner Youth up the ass. They can resign Brown and all the others extensions and still have cap space left over for Anthony Davis when he becomes a FA.
As far as Leonard goes, Lakers over Clips should be an easy sell. Clips signed Griffin, told him he was a Clipper for life and traded him 6 months later..then followed that up by trading their best player from this year's squad. They're more than likely going to have to answer for that bit of business this summer. Obviously, Leonard has had his share of trust issues with upper management in the past, what ended his stay in S.A. Can pretty easily see a scenario where the Clips' biggest signing is re-signing Zu
