You could say this about a majority of big leaguers. They hate how much time the WBC adds to Speing training.

    true
but not all big leaguers need to prove themselves
you would think puig should feel motivated to prove his doubters wrong
all he's doing is confirming what they believe
he still has time to prove himself (unbelievably)
but i think its fair to say that if some other team made a half decent offer he'd been gone, quickly

Puig sucks at hitting. That's my only critique. Don't care about his antics or attitude. He's a great defensive player who will never hit consistently. If he was up in the World Series I would change the channel. There's zero percent chance he'd come through.

He consistently takes worse high leverage AB's than anyone I've ever seen. When he does do something good in those situations it seems like it's almost always by accident.

The longer an AB goes, the worse Puig does.
Meanwhile, Trayce said he wants to start being more aggressive at the beginning of his ABs..doesn't think he always has to take his ABs deep into the count and play the mental/battle game with the opposing pitcher to be effective.
You get a good feel for which one of these guys has a mind for the game.

Puig should be playing so hard everyday that it becomes annoying to the slackers.
Meanwhile, they say that Trayce is going full throttle with his day 2 day stuff, trying to make the team.

Guessing there's a LHP going for ARI
If so, I like the look of Yasmani in the 2 spot against LHP, should stick with that

    good valid points
imo he has a very low baseball iq
his mind doesn't process things properly
like that time the throw beat him to 2b and he did the hand switch thing and was called safe
he was out by two feet taking an unnecessary risk
but because he made it his pea sized brain equates it to success
he also seems to lose his shit in clutch situations, often overswinging and swinging at pitcher's pitches
puig is destined to fuck up in key situations
and i don't disagree with tb's take of switching the channel if he's up with the game on the line

I wasn't trying to pile on to Puig, just reporting what I saw. In yesterday's game his body language looked like me at a last-minute 5:00 pm meeting on a Friday. I know it's preseason but he's still a level beyond most of the guys out there, which is concerning for a guy fighting for a spot.

There was a change to @Fall Winslow 's batting order for today - Puig was taken out and replaced with Segedin. I wonder if Puig is sick? Or in the dog house?

^at the beginning of the game Rick Monday said he was not hurt and that he was told he was doing "Extra Spring Training" or something like that. I can't remember exactly what he said but it sounded really odd.

Puig took extra swings before the game, prompting
Roberts to scratch him from the lineup.
    4:45 PM - 24 Mar 2017

    this makes no sense
puig takes plenty of extra swings every game... at pitches out of the zone
and why did it takes 4 hours for this info to come out?
something tells me there's more to this... :dramaqueen:

TBT, Segedin should be in there over Puig
Don't know why it all happened, but I was hoping they had found a trade

Dave Roberts said Yasiel Puig was putting in extra work on his swing
with hitting coach Turner Ward, "working on his path to the baseball."

might be time to start working on his path out of baseball.

    indeed

that's kind of what he does
    goes about his business quietly
but at the end of the year the numbers are there
not dissimilar to mark ellis in his prime, only still trending upward
