If you trade Puig to Mil the OF opportunities for those guys reduce not increase.
Braun moves to LF which makes Toles/Trayce our RF combo.

    that's not a reduction
it's just a slide from lf to rf which they've both played
puig doing well would benefit everyone
ideally we'd all love him to do so well that we no longer look to deal him
but if he does (just) well enough to spike his trade value, braun wouldn't be the only option

It is a reduction in defense. Toles and Trayce together arent Puig.
And none have proven anything so far. Puig has proven way more than either of those two in their short stints.
They too could be exposed after pitchers get more looks at them.

Bellinger hit another bomb that apparently landed in the Gulf of Mexico. Wood has not been great.

Walker Buehler's first outing did not go great, I'll just leave it at that.

Impressive play the other day by Bellinger, in CF fighting off the sun
Young OF options just coming out of LAD's ears

Not a lot of opportunity there since they are both considered to be LF who can play RF or CF but dont have the right mix of arm strength/accuracy, defensive route recognition, range and glove.
Besides there is Ethier who at his age and with bad legs and back is still probably better defensively in RF than those two.
Plus if you think that Puig does not have the power numbers to be the main RF on this team how does Toles figure into the discussion?

But im with you. If we can get Braun for Puig and McCarthy you gotta do it.
Stick whomever you have in RF. A 3 headed monster of Toles, Franklin and Trayce.
But Braun in LF blocks a bunch of people and flexibility going forward.

not going to dispute puig defensively
but i think you're underestimating toles and (especially) trayce -- who's played more games in right and center than left
they're both athletic and capable, take good routes, and have well better than average arms
i doubt the drop off there wouldn't be as bad as you think
especially with the added offense of braun

we have so much depth that adding anyone is potentially blocking someone
but for a lifetime .304/.367/.544 hitter who was right at those numbers last year...
maybe he could lend puig some of whatever he's injecting :laford:

So you are in favor of them trading Toles and Trayce for Braun and keeping Puig in RF with Braun in LF and Joc passing the needle between the two.

Oh hell no, definitely not alarmed. First ever appearance on a big league field, hasn't thrown above Lo-A and Roberts even said that he was amped up. I would like to know how hard he was throwing.

Mitchell White will pitch today. The club is trying to get Buehler and White a taste of big league action. Both were not expected to make it all the way up this year, but there are murmurs that both have had considerably impressive springs that could speed up their timelines. Would guess White has the best chance as a starter as he pitched considerably more innings last season.

Kershaw is not a mystery today so far to Mariner hitters. Nope.

    - White is looking pretty solid. Gave up a bloop double, a shifted single to Cano and 2 BB's so far (1 should have had strike 3 twice) and 2K's in 3. He has a good mix of stuff that appears to keep guys off balance and the M's are having trouble squaring him up. Can tell he's a little over throwing and missing up in the zone a good bit, but yeah gonna happen.
    - Omar Estevez has looked REALLY fucking good at 2B. For a guy that is supposed to be known for his bat, I'll take those skills at 2B any day. Is supposed to be really improving in the IF where he may not need to move off of SS right away.
    - Bellinger is pretty good with the glove.
