Agree. Don't need a 230 lb Juan Pierre who can't steal bases.

Puig needs to be hitting it to the wall or over it.

Puig's swing looks flat at times. And his stance is more upright. I think that is one of the reasons he doesn't lift the ball up and gets line drives and ground balls. The angle of approach with his bat doesn't give him enough chances to get underneath the ball and lift it up.

Maybe he should bend a little more at the knees and hips which may lift up the bat angle drive up the ball more.

    Just my two cents.

It is all the tinkering that Ward is doing right now with him. I think they are basically rebuilding his swing from square one, which is why every few games, you will see something noticeably different. They add something to his approach, give him some time to adapt to it and store it into muscle memory, then add something else and repeat the process. In all likelihood, Puig is not going to be comfortable at the plate for another couple of months. Where he certainly doesn't look that way right now, but they are hopping that the payoff happens when they need it most. Think Joc of last year, for the first couple months of the season we were all saying, "WTF is he doing up there?!?" It wasn't until the final month or two where he really looked comfortable at the plate.

Puig has made a ton of improvement. Stats don't tell a story. Stats are there to supplement and help carry a narrative. Alone they really dont explain much.
GIDP is like Strikeouts. On certain types of players you dont want them, on other players they are ok.
Puig has been swinging the bat great. He is obviously not doing what he really wants and instead is doing what he is told to do, even if it is not showing many hits right now.

I used to do the same thing when my outside shot was not feeling very smooth.
I would train it by going under the basket and shoot as cleanly and correctly (mechanics-wise) as possible.
Then i would take a step back and shoot a bunch more.
Only taking another step back until I felt I had made enough shots in a row that sounded and felt perfect.
By the time i got out to the free throw line I was putting in more leg action into the shot, altering my mechanics little by little until the muscle memory started kicking in.
Once I was shooting jumpers my mechanics felt better again and I started to see better results in terms of good bounces/love from the rim, etc...

All we have of fairy tales are stats that people kept and then many years later interpreted and used to reconstruct a plausible story we call a fairy tale/history.
What, you think history and story books last forever?
No, but you know what does?
    Stats.

But i dont live at xxxx somestreet road, nor do i live at x by y coordinates.
    I live at my home.
Stats can tell you a lot about my house, about where I live, etc... but if you want to know the truth about my home you are going to have to visit.
Or else what do you really know?
    Not much.

At the risk of starting a debate, "69" is one of the most overrated sexual positions of all time. Probably only second to "sex in the shower".
