its official though thanksgiving is now completely and utterly secondary to black friday this year black friday actually started on thanksgiving day a bunch of stores didnt want to wait and said fuck it... lets sell some shit! there are barely any 'holy' or by any means at least decent and good holidays on our calendar they are slowly being turned into giant offerings to the god of materialism
my kid wanted to go out at midnight. then we heard the helicopters. and that pepper spray lady actually got away with her purchase and is at large i think. diabolical genius. then we planned to go at 4 but she didn't wake me up. so we went to brents at noon and walked the northridge mall. hardly ever go in there but there were arrests a lot of people but not too many buying things. it really is about the worst aspects of our society. kicking squealing gucci little piggies.
Las Vegas: There's a Cantor's Deli in one of the casino's on the strip - Treasure Island, I think. It's like the one in DS - a real slick franchise thing. Nothing like my fav place on Fairfax Ave. When I go into a deli there better be at least one waitresses who has been there since the 1920's and calls everyone 'honey'.
Ha! I grew up in Studio City and remember Art's from the 1960's. Geez, that was a long time ago. I always seem to end up at Jerry's these days.
Yep - those are the old stomping grounds. I lived on the other side of Ventura Blvd. I went to that grade school on Laurel Cyn - but moved away early on. I came back in the early 80's, back to Studio City. Ventura Blvd has sure changed - I don't recognize very much in that area nowadays except Dupars .
Carpenter Grade School. Then I did a year in Burbank (McKinely) before leaving town - for Washington State. Yeah, I lived in the coffee shops in the 80's - in the wee hours of the morning, everyone trying to sober up. There was Twains - Ventura and Cold Water? And remember Sambos? I can't believe that place wasn't ripped down by mobs of people offended by the caricature. And Denny's was a real dive - before they put in all those potted palms.
