So Dum Dum put Puig out there late to see. How he looked in CF.

His conclusion? "Yep. Looks like a guy playing CF".

Kemp's arm isn't too bad, so RF is pretty good for Kemp, we all know Puig has the most range so CF works for him too, but ultimately I want:

    Kemp - LF
    Pederson - CF
    Puig -RF

Moving the Pig to CF weakens two positions. The Pig is not a CF and The Chinchilla is not the Pig's equal in right so both positions become more of a liability. Ethier hits like shit but his defensive routes are the best on the team. The Pig will run into walls and corner outfielders with his reckless style. This is a bad idea.
And I'm tired of Chinchilla's me me attitude. It's a tired act. Cries about not playing. Cries about where he plays and now has to express how happy he is in RF?

Fuck him. Trade him for a pair of Koyie Hills. Just run him out of town and bring up Joc.

To be honest. If they unloaded Hanleycapped and Chinchilla to make room for Guerrero and Joc, I'd be pretty happy.

Best move ever...I've always said it. Puig in CF, Kemp in RF. Argued with Irish over it...so far so good.

Naming threads "Idiot" is a bit lame(your hatred of DBB is overwhelming you Irish ;) )...but whatever.

and i don't necessarily disagree fordie
just not thrilled with the timing of it... would prefer they try it in the offseason to give puig time to adjust
one game is hardly a fair sample size (good or bad) but, believe me, i (obviously) hope i'm worrying for nothing and it all works out
just don't like them (dbb, ned, et al) catering to a whining crybaby like kemp (dave stewart, actually) and inconveniencing puig
if anything, kemp should be happy just to be playing

I don't think there is an adjustment with Puig.

You tell him, hey, go do that, and he just says okay.

    Going to play reckless regardless.

The real negative here is exposing Puig to more risk. He's already got gimpy wheels and covering all that territory isn't going to help him. I know you all saw him step gingerly off of first after the throw over, and later after he crossed the plate he was definitely limping. So...put him out and center and say "go get'em"?

I can't remember but either Mattingly or ESPN tonight said during the broadcast that Puig had been asking him to play CF for some time now. Maybe there was already a comfort level with the position, it was just DM was hesitant.

Well I have to disagree that this has anything to do with Kemp/Stewart whining and more to do with having a CF that can actually run fast and cover ground. Kemp, Ethier and VanSlyke are all pretty crappy CFers IMO. They all lack range...the #1 thing a CFer should possess. Kemp should never had been moved from RF in the 1st place and Ethier really should've been a LF and Puig should've been in CF.

And as far as adding risk of injury to Puig in CF, well I think it's safer for him. Sure he'll run more but there is less walls and infielders are farther away for him to run into.

How can anyone argue Puig's ability to play CF? It may not be Mcutchen out there, but an athlete built like him with his tools can make a very good case for being a CF any day of the week.
It's like his swing...IMO, I don't think he has a HR swing. But sometimes, by virtue of his flat out power, the ball is going out. That's why I didn't think he'd do well in the HR Derby. But with what he brings to the dance, he can do it. How long before he kills himself or others, I don't know. But he certainly has the athleticism to do it.
Frankly, I thought DBB a bit of a dullard in not doing it earlier when KKemp made the hair stand up on our necks watching him out there. I thought Ethier and SVS just stop gap measures, but nothing permanent.
It's a glamor position, too...and that's right up his dramatic alley.
    Should be OK.

Is it possible that Kemps comments about CF are a way of working DBB into action?
Either way, Puig is a gamer.

After reading this thread you would think that puig and kemp are being asked to go from baseball to water polo.........It's CF and RF, there will be some adjustment but this is the most minor thing getting blown way out of proportion
