You're obviously not familiar with how the law works. The agents were able to acquire search warrants, which aren't just handed. A judge has to sign off on it, thereby putting his/her credibility on the line. So unless you've got some pretty compelling evidence, you're not getting one. Lesson over. You can now go back to watching isn't Law & Order reruns lol.

Fogle to plead guilty to sex acts with minors, child porn
Associated Press — 3 minutes ago

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Longtime Subway pitchman Jared Fogle agreed Wednesday to plead guilty to allegations that he paid for sex acts with minors and received child pornography in a case that destroyed his career at the sandwich-shop chain and could send him to prison for more than a decade.

Prosecutors allege that Fogle knew the pornography had been secretly produced by the former director of his charitable foundation, which sought to raise awareness about childhood obesity and arranged for Fogle to visit schools and urge children to adopt healthy eating and exercise habits.

Authorities said Fogle offered to pay adult prostitutes a finder's fee if they could connect him with minors for sex acts, including some as young as 14 or 15 years old.

"This is about using wealth, status and secrecy to illegally exploit children," U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler said.

A tight-lipped Fogle sat in federal court with his hands clasped and quietly answered "no" when the judge asked whether he had any questions about his rights. He is expected to enter the formal plea at a later date to one count each of travelling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and distribution and receipt of child pornography.

The agreement released by prosecutors said Fogle will pay $1.4 million in restitution to 14 minor victims, who will each receive $100,000. He will also be required to register as a sex offender and undergo treatment for sexual disorders.

The government agreed not to seek a sentence of more than 12½ years in prison, and Fogle agreed not to ask for less than five years, according to court documents.

Federal judges have wide discretion in sentencing, and Fogle could get a longer sentence. The child-porn charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. The count involving sex with a minor is punishable by up to 30 years.

Fogle "knows that restitution can't undo the damage that he's done, but he will do all in his power to try to make it right," defense attorney Jeremy Margolis told reporters.

The married father of two, he added, has a "medical problem" and "expects to get well," but he did not elaborate.

As Fogle left the courthouse, several people jeered him amid a throng of TV cameras, onlookers and protesters.

One man shouted, "Hey, Jared, leave those kids alone." Others waved signs accusing authorities of going light on Fogle while giving many minorities rougher treatment.

Fogle, 37, became Subway's pitchman after shedding more than 200 pounds as a college student, in part by eating the chain's sandwiches. He was the public face of the company for more than 15 years — a period in which its number of locations tripled, making Subway the world's largest restaurant chain.

Subway suspended the partnership in July after agents raided his home in the affluent Indianapolis suburb of Zionsville, and the chain said this week that it had ended its relationship with Fogle.

Federal prosecutors allege in the documents that Fogle traveled to pay for sex acts, including with minors, from 2007 until as recently as June and that he repeatedly planned business trips to coincide with his sexual pursuits.

Fogle is accused of having sex with two 16-year-old girls at hotels in New York City. One of the girls told investigators she had sex with Fogle three times in November 2012, when she was 16, and again two months later, when she was 17.

The girl told Fogle her age when they first met, according to the documents.

After that meeting, Fogle allegedly texted the girl and offered to pay her a fee if she could find him another underage girl to pay for sex acts.

During these discussions, Fogle "stated that he would accept a 16-year-old girl, while stating that the younger the girl, the better," the documents said.

Posts to social media place Fogle in New York around the dates of the alleged sex acts.

Tweets from Subway's official account indicate Fogle attended events ahead of the New York Marathon in November 2012, appearing in a segment of a news program on Nov. 1 and sitting on a panel with Subway teammates the following day.

On Jan. 12, 2013, Fogel tweeted from his personal account that he would appear on the "Subway Postgame Show" on CBS. He later tweeted photos of himself in Times Square and in the CBS studio.

Between 2011 and 2013, Fogle also repeatedly sent text messages to escorts, "soliciting them to provide him with access to minors as young as 14 to 15 years," the documents said, adding that he would only make such requests after engaging in sex acts with the escorts to "insure that they were not undercover police officers."

The documents also alleged that Fogle on multiple occasions received sexually explicit images and videos produced by Russell Taylor, 43, who ran the charitable Jared Foundation.

Two months before Fogle's home was raided, authorities arrested Taylor on charges that he produced and possessed child pornography. Investigators said they discovered a cache of sexually explicit photos and videos Taylor allegedly produced by secretly filming minor children at his home.

Prosecutors also allege that Fogle received from Taylor multiple images and videos, some of which were taken by a video camera hidden in a clock radio that filmed children changing clothes or bathing. Some were taken in buildings were Taylor lived.

The documents said Fogle knew those depicted were minors, some as young as 13 or 14 years old, and in some cases knew the minors involved by name and had met them "during social events in Indiana."

Fogle's history with Subway reaches back to his days at Indiana University. The college paper published a story on his weight loss that was then picked up by national media.

Soon after, Subway's advertising agency reached out to Fogle and asked if he wanted to be in a TV commercial. The ensuing ad campaign resonated in part because Fogle seemed like such a regular guy, which made weight loss seem simple and achievable.

Ok, I know I'm a bit twisted, but this part bothers me.

The agreement released by prosecutors said Fogle will pay $1.4 million in restitution to 14 minor victims, who will each receive $100,000.

What this is saying to me is that he didn't pay ENOUGH for the sex acts and the court is making sure the victims receive fair value. I know that's not the intent and that the prison sentence will be the real punishment, but basically that's what's happening. Maybe if he paid an equal amount to some of the foundations fighting sex trafficking then it wouldn't seem like a payoff. I don't know, it just bothers me.

    He's worth 15 million.

    His wife gets half.

Minimal use of attorneys leaves him with a few million when he gets out.

A reporter says Jared Fogle asked her to put hidden cameras in her children's rooms
by Hayley Peterson | Business Insider — 4 hours ago
    [IMG]
Former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle once tried to persuade a journalist to put hidden cameras in her young children's rooms, according to the woman's claims.

"I had two young children at the time, and he talked to me about installing hidden cameras in their rooms and asked me if I would choose which child I would like him to watch," Rochelle Herman said on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360."

Herman said she has been working with the FBI for nearly a decade in its investigation into Fogle, now 37 and the father of two children under 5.

Herman told CNN that she wore wires for more than four years to record conversations with Fogle in which he talked to her "numerous times over the course of years about having sex with minors."

"He talked about sex with underage children," she told CNN. "It was just something that he really, really enjoyed."

Fogle was charged this week with possessing and distributing child pornography and traveling across state lines to have sex with minors. He plans to plead guilty to the crimes and pay $1.4 million in restitution to 14 victims.

Herman first grew alarmed by Fogle's interest in minors during a health event at a Florida school in 2007. She was covering the event for a local TV station.

"He told me that he thought middle school girls were so hot," Herman told CNN. "I was in shock ... I actually was questioning, 'Did I really just hear what I think I heard?' I looked over at my cameraman ... and he was just astounded."

Herman contacted the FBI about Fogle's comments and worked with them for years in its investigation.

Fogle first rose to fame as Subway's spokesman 15 years ago, after losing more than 200 pounds while eating the restaurant's sandwiches. He reportedly has a net worth of $15 million.

Subway's decision to suspend its relationship with Fogle marks an end to the chain's most lucrative endorsement deal.

The company's chief marketing officer told the New York Daily News in 2013 that Fogle was likely responsible for one-third to one-half of Subway's growth in the previous 15 years.

In addition to his work for Subway, Fogle also started the Jared Foundation, a charitable group aimed at helping children develop better eating and exercise habits.

According to prosecutors, Fogle often scheduled business trips to coincide with his sexual pursuits.

Subway claims it had no knowledge of Fogle's behavior. The company ended its relationship with Fogle after the FBI raided his house last month.

A former Subway franchisee claims she made company executives aware of his alleged interest in children years ago, however.

As Business Insider previously reported, the franchisee claims she shared disturbing text-message conversations from 2008 with Subway in which Fogle asked her to set up a meeting with her underage cousin, according to the franchisee's lawyer.

The messages that appeared to be from Fogle also repeatedly asked the woman to advertise herself on Craigslist for sex with other men, according to the lawyer. He asked her if he could watch the sexual acts and told her she can make about $500 per act, the woman said.

The woman claims she contacted Subway's corporate office regarding the issue, and she requested Subway allow her to remove all marketing related to Fogle from her store, according to the lawyer.

She met with two levels of management, shared the messages with them, "and specifically requested not to have his imagery and merchandising related to him in her stores," the lawyer said. "She also specifically warned them that he should not be interacting with young people."

"Jared Fogle’s actions are inexcusable and do not represent our brand’s values," the company said in a statement Wednesday. "We had already ended our relationship with Jared."

subway has maintained from the start that it had no knowledge of jared’s behavior, and quickly ended its relationship with him after the fbi raided his house last month
but now a former subway employee is claiming she made company executives aware of his alleged interest in children years ago, sharing disturbing text-message conversations from 2008 with subway in which Fogle asked her to set up a meeting with her underage cousin... and that they supposedly did nothing

Jared Fogle's ex-wife is suing Subway, alleging that it ignored complaints about his sexual interest in children
by Hayley Peterson | Business Insider — 10 hours ago

The ex-wife of former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle is suing the fast-food chain, alleging that the company has known about Fogle's sexual interest in children since 2004 but never did anything to address it.

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Kathleen McLaughlin, says Subway was notified at least three times about Fogle's "sexual interest in and activity with children" but kept featuring him in ads and did not notify authorities.

"As early as 2004, Subway's then-senior vice president of marketing received a complaint that Jared had approached a young girl at a promotional event for a Las Vegas Subway franchise for a sex act," the suit alleges.

Subway sent its then senior public-relations manager to ask Jared and a franchisee owner, rather than the victim, about the incident, the suit alleges. "Subway did not thoroughly investigate the report and did not alert authorities as they were legally required to do," it reads.

Then in 2008, a Subway franchisee from Florida notified the company that Fogle had made disturbing comments about children, as Business Insider first reported. Again, the company sent its senior public-relations manager to ask Fogle about the complaint and nothing was done, the suit alleges.

“Finding out that your husband and the father of your children is a child predator, and knowing that his job involved him visiting schools on a regular basis is devastating," McLaughlin told reporters on Monday.

She said she filed the lawsuit to get answers from Subway regarding its knowledge of her husband's sexual attraction to children.

In response to the lawsuit, a Subway spokesman provided the following statement to Business Insider: "“As this is pending legal action, we cannot provide comment."

Fogle was convicted and sentenced last year to nearly 16 years in prison for having sex with minors and receiving and distributing child pornography. He's serving out his sentence at a federal penitentiary in Colorado.

McLaughlin's lawsuit also alleges that Subway "provided a platform for [Fogle] to prey on children by sending him to elementary schools all over the country.”

"Despite knowing of Jared’s sexual interest in children and the then-alleged sexual acts he committed with them, Subway continued to promote their star spokesman," the suit says.

The company launched a campaign known as “Jared’s School Tour,” which required him to visit elementary schools all over the US. He was also required to spend significant time in elementary school for his “Tour de Pants” campaign, in which he traveled around the US with the pants he once wore when he weighed 425 pounds.

By 2015, Fogle’s weight-loss story was “getting stale” so “Subway saw Jared’s family as a marketing opportunity," the suit says.

Several months before an FBI raid on Fogle's home — which resulted in child-pornography charges being filed against him — Subway announced a marketing campaign promoting Jared as a family man.

The company began airing a commercial that depicted animated versions of Jared’s family, including his wife and children, the suit says.

McLaughlin is now suing Subway, alleging that it depicted her in the ad without her consent. She is also accusing the company of negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress, alleging that the company's "ambition for sales and growth came at the expense" of her and her kids.
