    damn good point there, but damn it would be great to kinda rain on the SFaGs parade. Series could be over by Monday, so Tuesday is still a possibility

    plus they're only reporting what they're hearing -- which is what friedman, maddon, et al want them to hear
    it's 100% open to speculation at this point

    Hey Bochy, enough about your third WS in 5 years, did you hear your rivals have a new manager? They don't have a SS, bullpen and or anyone in the OF earning their salary but this has to make you nervous....

    yep. and i mean nobody's under oath in this thing. but this is the kind of mega-news that you'd expect to see some rumors leading up to an official announcement, so i'm not believing that all these insiders all of a sudden have the scoop. maybe 1 or 2 of the regular insiders is being told what Friedman and Maddon want them to hear, but other than that..nah. a good sized portion of these dudes are making shit up.

    Yeah, seriously....we've made plenty of big, news worthy moves over the last couple of years and still have 0 WS appearances. Giants are used to hearing our moves get hyped up while they actually make the WS.

    i meant as a headline stealer. the majority of MLB fans are already looking towards next year/November/the off-season hot stove, my man, and adding Maddon would be step #2 in a big off-season kicking off for the Dodgers.

    "Freidman is fine with Mattingly" ...so, if this happens, as all the in-the-know's seem to suggest, is Donnie going to be...uh...Ned's assistant? I would say what that is exactly, but I don't know what Ned is....exactly.
    Hey, is this guy Maddon, the one who used to coach the Raiders? Awesome!!! He changed the spelling, right....when he switched over to baseball?

    It would be weird if we don't go after Maddon.

    I know Friedman says he's 100% behind Mattingly, making it seem like he had no idea Maddon was going to leave Tampa... but c'mon. What better way to cover up any talks while Maddon was under contract, than to make this look like a surprise. A week ago Maddon said he wants to stay a Ray, and now he just decides to leave "out of the blue" for a market with only one current opening? Riiiiight

    Looks like Maddon had a clause where if Friedman left, he had a two week window where he could opt out. So, he tried to negotiate a new contract and it didn't work out. He's no dummie, the Rays are gonna be bad next year and he knows it'll reflect on him.

    Mattingly resigns as manager of Dodgers

    Upon hearing that Joe Maddon resigned his post as manager of the Tampa Bay Rays, perennial lame duck Don Mattingly decided to do the same with the Dodgers.

    Many had assumed Maddon's next stop would be with the Dodgers, despite reports to the contrary from almost everyone -- including the Dodgers front office -- stating just the opposite.

    "We're really surprised by Donnie's decision," said newly appointed Dodgers president of baseball operations. "But, at the same time, we couldn't be happier. All that shit I said about looking forward to working with him… yeah, I never meant any of it. I mean, come on… we're talking about Don Mattingly." ​

    Mattingly, not amused, responded:

    "That's a really mean thing for him to say. Joe Torre told me I was a great manager and that I'll be inducted into the Hall of Fame once I'm done managing. So fuck Friedman and fuck the Dodgers!"​

    Joe Torre, after hearing Mattingly's pathetic rant:

    "Well Donnie's right about one thing… he's done managing."​

    As for Maddon, he said leaving the Rays had nothing whatsoever to do with the Dodgers… sort of…

    "I realized I shouldn't say anything with both me and Donnie still under contract. There's all sorts of tampering rules and I didn't want to violate any of them or be disrespectful to Donnie. But now, with both of us unemployed -- albeit, one of us only temporarily -- I can speak freely. So yeah, the minute the Dodgers hired Andrew, OF COURSE I wanted to join him. Yes I have history in Tampa, but come on... it's Tampa. And now that that asshat Mattingly has bolted, I'm fucken there!"​

    Maddon added that he loved black people, which struck a chord with Dodgers' co-owner Magic Johnson.

    "Mattingly… how do I say this?… He's from Indiana, so he's a bit of a redneck. One day when we were checking into a hotel he looked at me and said, 'Hey Boy, that luggage ain't gonna carry itself.' All I could think of was something I read on Daily Sports Pages… 'wow, racist.' So yeah, I never liked him too much after that."​

    Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp took to Twitter to wish both Mattingly and Maddon his best:
