Reports said he was killed due to trauma, not drowning

Dee Gordon hits his 1st HR of the YEAR on the night they honor Fernandez and cries the entire trot around the bases. This is after hitting righthanded with Fernandez batting helmet. YOU CAN'T WRITE THIS SHIT!! Entire team wearing the number 16 very cool and amazing.

Much like Vin's last game at DS, baseball can become truly magical.

According to the stories I saw they were out on the water at after 10? Speeding in the dark I hear not smart.

This gave me chills. Take me out to the Ballgame trumpet solo was played before the game.

    So sad.

I don't know how I'd feel if Jose was my brother or friend. Anger would have to creep in a bit. You left all of us behind to grieve you because you made such a stupid decision...ugh I couldn't imagine.

Doesn't make this any less devastating and I don't know if drugs and alcohol were actually the cause of the crash... but still.

Just say no to drugs and drink responsibly.

I'm 100% sure alcohol and drugs were the cause.

If guys don't know that doing blow in a speeding boat at night is a bad combo, then those individuals were doomed from the get go anyway.
Too stupid not to die horribly.
I would think, obviously, this wasn't the first time, either.
    Sad, but inevitable.

Man, this certainly adds a new layer into the story. Of course, under the influence or not, driving a boat at high speeds in near pitch-black conditions is dangerous. Obviously, whoever was driving misjudged where they were.

The report said the other two men were under the legal limit for alcohol. It didn't say if they cocaine in their system, but if I had to guess they probably did. Sounds like they were pulling an all nighter so they could get out on the water early, so fatigue is also a factor in the poor judgement.

It's tragic no matter how you slice it. What I'm wondering: is the MLB substance abuse policy predictable enough for someone to do cocaine mid-season knowing they won't be caught? Had he already reached his maximum number of tests or something? Just seems like weird timing with the end of the season so close and what might have been his last start of the season in less than two days. Of course, could also be something he did all the time during the season.

I thought the same exact thing...how are you doing narcotics in a supposedly frequent uranalysis environment
Coke doesn't syay in the blood stream that long, not as long as weed, so he may have been skilled at manipulating the piss test window.

So from what I read, Fernandez had cocaine in his system and was way over the limit for alcohol. The boat was also owned by Fernandez.

One of the other two men had cocaine in his system but both were under the legal limit, meaning they were not technically drunk.

This might have been Fernandez's first use of the drug, which is why he was never caught, but also, these tests are "random" so they say, so he was probably playing the percentages.

Anyway, I know it's jumping to conclusions, but it sounds like Fernandez may have been at fault here.

First time yeyo for Jose...? Idk, I've gotta hard time swallowing that premise.
Could be...I guess in the long run, the kid's still dead from it.
Partying is fine...just gotta know when and where to do it.
Had the world by the short hairs, man.
    Sure is sad.
