Tough call for him to wait tho, especially if a someone else offers him a Max.

That, in essence, is his haircut. The patience to wait a little bit once the Mavs put in that max offer.

On the very small chance that Julius waits, that's a scenario where he's more than likely been renounced by LAL. LAL only gets to 57M in cap space with Julius' cap hold on the payroll and Deng waived, and they need to get to 65M in order to max out LeBron and George. That's where all the renouncing talk comes from. I'm not one who believes somebody is about to trade for Deng coming off a full year of inactivity..I just think he gets waived and they move on and get business done that way. I think if they deal any draft pick it'll be next year's. They plan on being better a year from now. This CLE draft pick can replace Julius within their young core, and perhaps a year from now they'll add a bit more cap space to add a role playing vet.

Operations-wise, LAL signing George at the very beginning of free agency would make his old threat to Indy a reality and show teams around the league that this a serious movement. And perhaps it'd shut down any shit head teams like OKC from meddling in LAL's business ala how they stepped in for George when he made it known that LAL was ultimately his spot. Kawhi's camp leaks that he's going to follow in George's footsteps a year from now and the message lands a bit harder at that point. Weaken the pool of teams with interest in Kawhi. Otherwise, some corny small market squad is probably going to come nosing around Kawhi, thinking like OKC.." we can get him and then convince him to stay ". Nah, you can't. You can be like OKC and have him for a year.

I don't think its a small chance that Randle will wait.
If he is told that the Lakers will match if anyone offers him a max deal as long as he waits he will wait.
Unless he just wants to leave the Lakers thinking that when all the stars come he will be nothing more than a role player and possibly relegated to a bench piece.

Randle is the last guy i'd want to lose
Have to figure its going to take a Kuzma or BI to land Kawhi
Sign JR, figure out the trade for Leonard and sign a FA, maybe even KCP

Yeah, that Dodgers' sadness pretty much ends once you get downtown..LAL actually has championships post Ronald Reagan/White House :duck:
LAL sent Kobe out like a king, gave him a proper burial..the gods will give LAL safe passage to the next era :D already have - they've landed every draft pick possible since that damn Nash trade + gotten their FO together and now the culmination of it all this summer
Kershaw should've followed the Kobe System..it's probably too late now
Rams can't be bothered by the Dodgers' sadness either..Rams are adding every star they see this offseason

KAT infinitely better tonight. Series is tight. Sixers look like Shaq and Kobe all over again, the early years

Also, that LeBron strolling to the Finals in the east every year thing looks to be dead. I know that was a big sticking point early on for the nonbelievers who felt LeBron would rather stay in CLE than come out west, but it seems that's out. Guess that's just how fast things can change in the league. Wasting time and energy against an Indiana in the 1st round, in your 15th season, is no bueno. Even if they somehow manage to come back and beat Indy, or Indy just chokes, CLE is still trash. They took our trash at the deadline, and they're trash. And now both Paul George and LeBron are behind in their series. Interesting. Two 4-seeds on the road, staring down the barrel of a Game 4 and a potential 3-1 deficit. Hell of a parallel those 2 teams have going right now.

Anyway, Woj said just the other day that LAL is still locked in on LeBron and George. I'll continue to roll with Woj. He's usually pretty dialed in and knows his shit. And it makes sense being that those are the guys that are free. The much discussed will probably end up happening..Julius probably gets renounced/Deng stretched and waived, gives them a tad more than enough room to sign George and LeBron. They'd have around 5M in space left over thereafter, meaning the room exception would come into play for them and they'd be able to offer a substantial raise in the 2nd year of a multi year deal..possibly bringing KCP or Lopez back with that. And maybe a decision between those two would depend upon whom they decide to draft at #25, or maybe not if a Lopez would take the minimum to stay. If Lopez doesn't stay, I'm sure Frye would stick around with buddy Luke. Not that Frye is as good, of course.

Kawhi is going somewhere else..maybe the Clippers. And he probably should. His catch and shoot ability is questionable. He can shoot, but he's a rhythm shooter, a dribble pull up guy mostly that creates for himself. Defensively he'd fit anywhere, but offensively probably not. Shit, Lillard would probably be a better fit for LAL offensively. But yeah, LeBron and George are still their guys. Ramona said those two actually have a bond off the floor, so it all sort of fits.

KCP over Lopez all day every day.

Lopez is who he is, a worthless slug (occasional 3 pt binges aside). KCP can still be molded into something.

I'm good with either, prefer to have both back. Nothin too tricky.. Lopez/LeBron/George/Ingram/Zo
6th man- 6th starter Kuz/Hart/KCP/Frye/T.Bryant/Caruso/Corey Brewer/25th overall pick Mo Wagner
LAL can still go small and deploy lineups that switch defensively, go with LeBron and Kuz up front against Durant and Green.

That's probably a 4th seed roster in the west, maybe even 3-seed. We see that Portland was the 3-seed this year, obviously, have already been swept out like bitches and then of course 4th seed OKC looks to be in trouble with Utah. That LAL team jumps past those two teams in a single bound, will probably be better than Utah as well
