LeBron James to wear a patch for the remainder of the season honoring himself. The level of narcissism in this is mind-blowing.

    @YahooSports
BREAKING: LeBron James will wear a special-edition patch on his jersey to celebrate his record-setting 23rd NBA season, beginning tonight in Sacramento, the city where he made his NBA debut in 2003. The patch, which LeBron will wear for the remainder of the season, features a silhouette of his pregame chalk toss and three colored stripes representing the franchises he's played for in Cleveland, Miami, and L.A.

LeBron: “I would never disrespect the Basketball Gods when it comes to playing this game. So I put the time and the effort and the commitment in … as Jay-Z would say, if you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack, and maybe you'll love me when I fade to black.”

what a pretentious, narcissistic piece of shit

    July 8, 2010.

He sat for a one-hour TV show to announce "The Decision." (who does that?!?)

He let the drama build and then finally announced, "I'm taking my talents to South Beach."

At that point he exceeded all levels of narcissism previously exhibited by professional athletes, and that includes Barroid Bonds taking interview questions from his burkalounger in the locker room and referring to himself in the third person.

That was the beginning of the end for me as an NBA fan.

    no denying his talent
but no denying him lacking that “it” component that the true greats (bird, magic, jordan, kobe, wilt, west, et al) possess

JJ Redick goes OFF on all the LeBron haters.
"It's unfortunate how much this guy puts into it and how much he cares and the way certain people talk about him. It's crazy. Come be around him every day and see how much this guy cares. It's off the charts.”

100 percent, but at least hes just an entertainer and not one of our duly elected politicians.
Sports are entertainment so its a given for its stars to align the same way if they have the will and the skill to shine so.

This is a great video for all Laker fans.
Explains how LeBron and the Klutch influence has done everything to purge Kobes legacy and Mamba Mentality from the Lakers culture.

I see this trait in a lot of people aging out of their success and arriving at deep insecurities when they realize the surface level importance of what they put value in. I see it in alcoholics a lot in my family.

I remember a time when LeBron was way loose with the wine. Even bringing it courtside some games.
Justs because an athlete or a long time drinker has the ability to process and handle the alcohol well without it making him drunk does not mean that its not creating the long term damage to his mind.

Aging out of relevance where the idol worshippers no longer sing your name AND being an alcoholic = we gonna get a whole lot more whine in LeBrons vintage years.

John Stockton spoke about the difference between Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

"There is no such comparison. The media has tried to sell this news to create controversy among fans, to keep the basketball business alive, since Michael Jordan is always a topic of conversation, as far as basketball is concerned."

"Everyone has their own story, but watching LeBron play is not the same as watching Jordan play."

"LeBron's game is a very physical game, where he uses his physique a lot to get to the basket; it's the type of game we're all used to seeing."

"Jordan's game was a very aesthetic and elegant game, a very difficult game to watch. I think that's why the public misses him so much. Even after he retired, he watched the videos and asked me, 'How could this man stay in the air for so long?'"

"I believe that LeBron still hasn't done anything for the league like Jordan did. We should all be grateful for the value he brought to the NBA today."

"When LeBron leaves a legacy of that magnitude like Jordan did, then they should start comparing, otherwise he's not up to par."

Not that disagree with any of this, but I chuckled at this line: "LeBron's game is a very physical game, where he uses his physique a lot to get to the basket; it's the type of game we're all used to seeing."

Isn't that exactly how his buddy Karl achieved his success?

That said, I don't remember Malone ever whining for calls or flailing to the deck when bumped by a man half his size.

i’m guessing it was a diplomatic way of calling lebron a flailing flopping drama queen without actually saying it
