Trade seems fair, I wouldn't say we won it though. Especially when you consider we are last in mlb in speed and Kendrick, our biggest chip recieved, is 31 and plays like Rojas half the games hes in.
Dee Gordon has blossomed with the Marlins, but the seeds of his growth this season had already been planted before his 2014 season with the Dodgers, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register writes. “I was terrible for two years. No one has to provide any fire for me. The chip on my shoulder is self-inflicted,” he says. After struggling in 2012 and 2013, Gordon seemed to hit his stride last season, but this year, he’s been outright brilliant, currently leading the NL in batting average (.356) and hits (110). Dodgers manager Don Mattingly says he thinks Gordon might have been somewhat motivated by the Dodgers trading him to Miami last winter, but that doesn’t bother Mattingly. “He doesn’t seem vengeful or anything,” says Mattingly. “I hope when he plays San Francisco or Colorado or Arizona or San Diego that he’s really motivated to show us.”
I do have to admit Dee Gordon is everything this team is lacking. Get on base a lot. steal bases, not swinging for fences. What's done is done though.
I look at that trade as a win now and I feel it will look even better in the future as well. Dee is the type of guy that is going to wear down over the course of a season. It's due to his build, we saw it last year and we are seeing it already this year. Howie is a solid piece and come the end of the season, won't be a guy we're ringing our hands over when we're facing an elite pitcher down the stretch. Hatcher was crushed by some bad luck early, but then before he got hurt, it looked like all those bloops and what not finally got to him. His stuff is great, just needs to command it better. KikAYE(no clue how to do that right on a computer) has been very impressive for me, I wanted to see him more when Rollins was the auto out, but for a guy with limited at bats he has looked very good. If we moved Rollins for a pitcher, I would be comfortable seeing Hernandez backing up Seager. It sounds like Barnes has done very well in AAA and will be a good receiving catcher with some pop in his bat, with the dearth of depth at the position in recent years in the org, it's nice that we have 3 guys you'd be comfortable behind the plate. Haren hurts bigger because of the injuries, but there was no way he was sticking around after all the other guys we added and I doubt too many teams were taking a chance of giving up anything for a guy who said he'd retire if traded.
