These are the On Base Percentage leaders across the Dodgers system. Minimum 200 ABs and .350 OBP to qualify. Top-30 are in bold.

Really puts into perspective just how incredible of a season Sirota is having. I did a quick search across all the minor leagues, A thru AAA, and the next highest I can find is some guy in the Guardians system in the Midwest League (A+) at .454.

Also Quintero, after a horrid start and playing in a pitcher-friendly league, is really showing his worth. I'm starting to think that in the offseason Dodgers should cash in on Pages' AS season (something tells me this won't be an annual thing) and next year go with an OF of De Paula, Ehrhard, and Sirota, and then in '28 slide-in Quintero. (I know, there's also the Tucker issue... need to bite the bullet, eat some contract, and find a new home for him).

Honorable mention to 2B Lindsey who only has 111 ABs due to injury, but currently has a .440 OBP.

And the Dodgers got him with the 41st pick last year. As of now, he, Root, and West - among their first five picks - appear to be steals. The jury's still out on Leiter, and only Vidourek was a disappointment... but if Seth Halvorsen is instrumental in the playoffs then Vidourek was worth it.

Ouch. Elkins in his debut in high-A: 0-for-5, 4 strikeouts. Looks like he has to go through the same adjustment that Quintero and Morales know too well.

 

Ontario got walloped tonight but the other three won big. Here are a few highlights:

OKC - Ehrhard notched his 21st double as one of his three hits, and his 4 RBIs accounted for almost half of the team's runs in a 9-2 victory. Halvorsen pitched in his third game for the Comets, and now has totaled 3.1 scoreless innings for his new org, striking out 3 vs 1 walk, 3 hits. Tibbs DNP.

Tulsa - The big bats were fairly quiet. Most of the run production in this 9-3 win was generated from the bottom of the lineup. But leadoff hitter George legged out 2 doubles, and De Paula got his 73rd RBI with his one hit. Hope 1 for 5. Serwinowski starred on the mound, getting his 8th win - 1 hit, 1 run, 3 BBs, 6 K's over 6 innings. Sirota DNP.

GL - In this 11-1 win, Davalan and Morales contributed with a couple hits each (also 2 walks for Emil). Elkins got his first hit for the Loons and first 2 ribbies. The big story here is Hyun-Seok Jang. You may recall this is the Korean arm that the Dodgers were able to sign a few years ago. So far this year in low-A he'd been mediocre at best... 5.91 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP. But they decided to move him to high-A and this was his first game. He responded with a gem: 6 IP, 3 H, O R, O BB, 8 K's. Head scratcher for sure but we'll take it. Quintero DNP.

Ontario lost 2-12... about the only highlight was lead-off hitter Mairoshendrick Martinus. This guy is not ranked top-30, but he's having a great season and is on an absolute tear. Tonight he went 3 for 4, and he's 11 for 20 in his last four games, with 3 doubles and 2 HRs. On the season he's hitting .320/.909. Dodgers signed him as an international FA in 2022 out of Curacao, and he's still only 21. By the way, this year he's played DH, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, RF, and CF. It's a shame he's not more versatile, haha. Shelton DNP.

Dodgers: Zyhir Hope, OF (No. 5/MLB No. 25)
How loaded are the Dodgers? They feature more Top 100 Prospects (nine) than anyone and while Hope ranks No. 25 on that list, he's only their fifth-best prospect and fourth-highest-ranked outfielder. Acquired from the Cubs as part of the Michael Busch trade in January 2024, he's a potential 25-25 guy with well above-average raw power, solid speed and the tools to play anywhere in the outfield. He's enjoying a strong season in Double-A at age 21, slashing .288/.367/.517 with 21 homers and 18 steals in 91 games and leading the Texas League with 84 RBIs.

Former Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader is out for the season with the San Francisco Giants. He was in a scooter accident where he reportedly drove his scooter into the back of a fire truck and that fire truck then ran over his injured foot. Witnesses are saying that he was seen drinking at various points during the night before the scooter accident.

 

I feel guilty for laughing but that's pretty damn funny. If you get paid millions of dollars to play a game as a career, why would you ever risk that screwing around on a two-wheeler?



Jeff Kent and Fernando Tatis Jr are even laughing their asses off.

 

I like doing these monthly production summaries - it's good to know who's hot and who's not. I did the June summary one day early... doing the same here because I want to get it done ahead of the trade deadline and won't have time tomorrow or Sunday.

Side note: I found out that the main post-draft re-ranking typically takes place second week of August, so expect the order to look different in a couple of weeks.


1. De Paula - OF - Had a marginal slowdown in July. .289 AVG/.842 OPS is still good (.297/.908 in June). 4 doubles, 1 triple, and 3 HRs plus 7 steals so he's using all his offensive tools.

2. Sirota - OF - Streak ended on 7/17, O-fer the next day, but has totally gone off since then. 14-for-30 during that span. July numbers: .333/1.012.

3. Quintero - OF - What a month! .339/1.177. 18 walks exceed his 17 strikouts. One double, 4 triples, 4 HRs. As soon as a spot opens in Tulsa I'm sure he'll get the call.

4. Morales - SS - Which Loon is hottest, he or Quintero? .353/1.080 for July. Four round-trippers and 22 batted in.

5. Hope - OF - After batting .218 in June, he had a phenomenal July for the Drillers. .360/1.116 with 8 home runs and 25 RBIs. At a minimum, this has to boost his trade value.

6. Zazueta - P - 2.81 ERA and 0.76 WHIP, plus 26 K's vs only 2 BBs in 16 innings are fantastic numbers! The only downer is that it was only 16 innings over 4 starts.

7. Ryan -P - Injured, DNP

8. Davalan - OF - "Which Loon is hottest?" Charles says "hold my damn beer!" .370/1.247 in July. Eight HRs, 6 doubles, and 2 triples. A month that dreams are made of.

9. Tibbs - OF/1B - Not a great month to put it mildly. Zero HRs (yes, you read that correctly). Hasn't hit one since June 27. .254 AVG, .693 OPS. WTH happened???

10. Root - P - Continuing his impressive season with a 1.62 ERA in July. Walks were up compared to previous months - 12 vs 21 K's in 16.2 IP, but only 8 hits allowed.

11. Ferris - P - Two good, one poor, and one terrible start equal an ERA of 4.43 and a WHIP of 1.28. 23 strikeouts vs 7 walks is serviceable. If only he could build on the good starts.

12. Serwinowski - P - He regressed in July. His strong start last night saves him from a dreadful month, but still had a 6.48 ERA on a WHIP of 1.52.

13. George - OF - Looks like he's mostly back from his Fido injury, hitting .321/.815. Not running as much yet, though. 8 steals, caught twice.

14. Ko - OF - Great June, not-so-great July. .171/.722, but he did hit 3 triples, 4 HRs and drove in 17. Needs to get more hits, just 14 compared to 26 last month.

15. Lindsey - 2B - Cooled off a bit in July with a .259 AVG, but still recorded a .924 OPS. Walked (20) more than he struck out (18).

16. Harlan - 3B - We've seen higher prospects than him struggle to transition to A+. His numbers so far are atrocious. .188/.530 in July. Hopefully a better Aug is on tap.

17. Brady Smith - P - Not a great month, but partly due to 7 runs in his A+ debut. 6.43 ERA/1.48 WHIP for July. Tonight not included in that ERA: 5.1 IP, 1 ER, 5 K's no BBs!

18. Ehrhard - OF - He and Tibbs must be yin and yang. When Tibbs cooled, Ehrhard heated up. .343 AVG, .995 OPS for July. Probably OKC's hottest hitter right now.

19. Nieves - P - A month to forget. 4 starts, 10.38 ERA, 2.08 WHIP. More walks than K's - not a good thing for a pitcher.

20. Ward - OF/1B - Back in AAA for the entire month, and he hit 5 dingers. Avg a little low at .275 but .844 OPS.

21. Vargas - SS - Woke up a little this month. .326/.782. 5 doubles.

22. Leiter - P - On the 7-day IL. Just one July start: 1.2 IP, 1 ER.

23. Patick - P - Nothing to see here, move along. 6.32 ERA/1.66 WHIP in the month.

24. Martin - P - U-G-L-Y. 8.75 ERA and 1.86 WHIP. 33 hits in 23.2 IP.

25. Hainline - SS - Bounced back nicely off a lousy June. .308/.823, but only two XBHs and no HRs.

26. Elkins - OF - Is only 1-for-8 over two games since promotion to AA, but overall hit .376/1.067 in July.

27. Tunink - OF - I think his time here is about up. .224/.642, and that's one of his better months.

28. Miller - SS - .242/.707 for the month. That .272/.838 May seems a lifetime ago. July numbers more in-line with expectations, but would be lower in the majors.

29. Copen - P - I try not to get my hopes up for him anymore because I hate to see him lose it, but he had a decent month. 2-0/4.20 ERA. 20 K's vs 7 BBs in 15 innings.

30. Heubeck - P - Two starts, shelled in both. 24.30 ERA, and I'm sure this is the last time he's on this list.


Honorable mentions - we may see any of these names in the re-ranking:

Nico Perez - 2B - played only 7 games since return from injury, but hit .333/.914. Continuing his great season.

Easton Shelton - 1B - Nine HRs and 25 RBIs in a month when he hit .365/1.253, but he also K'd 29 times... roughly once every 3 plate appearances.

Mai Martinus - everywhere but catcher - .343/1.008. Super utility.

 

Hope with his 22nd HR, JDP with his 17th, 2 runs for Sirota, and it's only the 2nd inning.

 

Correction: 2 HRs for Hope. Do we really want to trade him???

The Giants announced they will suspend payments to Harrison Bader after the outfielder reinjured his left foot over the weekend in a scooter accident. Neither Bader nor the MLB Players Association has yet commented.

Maria Guardado of MLB.com and Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News were among those to point out that Bader was previously injured in what was believed to be an alcohol-related scooter accident while in his sophomore season at the University of Florida in 2014. The Gators suspended him for 19 games.
