Yeah that sucks for him. He's a hard thrower so it seems it was just a matter of time.

All these years later I still marvel at Nolan Ryan's ability to stay mostly injury free.

 

This guy makes a case for either Ehrhard or Sirota to be called up for Pages.

Sirota was back in the lineup today. JDP hit his 25th.

 

OKC just finished pitching a 10-inning shutout. This included 6 scoreless innings by Sheehan (9 K's), 1 by Treinen, and Seth Halvorsen saved it by coming in for the final out.

I'm going for a reverse jinx here...

Something seems amiss with Sirota.

0 for 5 yesterday with 3 strikeouts. That is not the same player that was on base 73 consecutive games this year. 1 for 12 since coming off the IL, and his AVG has dipped below .300 for the first time this season. Last multi-hit game was 8/12 (albeit a week off for the IL), and his last HR came on 8/6.

Hopefully it's just a fluke cold streak.

 

Very early on this one...

In this year's draft, Dodgers selected shortstop Caleb Johnson out of Jacksonville State in the 13th round (overall pick #403). He's 22 and was assigned to Ontario where he's been playing 3B.

In 45 ABs, he has 14 hits (.311 AVG), 4 doubles, 3 home runs, and an OPS of 1.004. He has struck out 15 times, which is high at 33%.

Let's see if it develops further.

 

Bobby Miller had his best game of the season yesterday. He pitched 3 shutout innings out of the pen for the win, allowing only one hit and striking out a season-high 5. The best stat, however, was 0 walks.

Problem is, he will have a game like this and then next outing he'll get touched for a couple of runs in 1 or 2 innings. His ERA is 4.50. But at 1.08, his WHIP is below his career minor league average, so that's encouraging.
