Well, despite the Dodgers not calling up Tibbs to the major league roster, I still hope to see some promotions of their top prospects this month. For sure JDP and maybe Sirota (health dependent) should get called up to OKC - there's nothing left for them to prove in Tulsa. There's a lot of fat that can be trimmed on the AAA roster to make room -- players in the age 27-33 range that will never be part of the major league roster. Then, Quintero and Davalan and possibly Morales should get the call to Tulsa. Remember, A and A+ only have one more week, while AA has two and AAA has three weeks remaining. These moves would get those players another week of work in, plus it would start prepping them for the higher competition next year.

 

Forgot to mention yesterday, Serwinowski went length, something you don't see often in the minors:

Easily his best start of the season, and in an up-and-down year (more downs than ups), it's an encouraging way for the team's third highest-ranked pitching prospect to begin his final month.

Why'd the LFer even bother moving, haha.

Can you imagine in a few years when this guy is manning short or third, and JDP's in left? Some combination of Quintero, Sirota, and Davalan in the other outfield spots (or Pages). Maybe Tibbs at 1B as a placeholder for Lowrance. Ohtani at DH but hopefully not leadoff. Will behind the plate. The potential is ridiculous.

 

By the way irish, he's 4 for 5 now... just doubled in another run. Up to 4 RBI's on the day and may still get up one more time.

Emil Morales is adding his name firmly to the Dodgers minor league history books with the number of runs he's driven in.

1. He's now up to 119. The only other Dodger minor leaguers who had 100+ before they turned 20 are Mike Marshall (116), Candy Maldonado (102), Adrian Beltre (104), and Cody Bellinger (103). And they all played more games than Emil.

2. He has more RBIs (119) than games played (114). The only other players in the org who had more RBIs than games (min of 100) are Kelly Snider (139 in 138 games) and Mike Marshall (137 in 128 as a 21-year old).

Pretty absurd season at such a young age.

Side note: Easton Shelton has 106 RBIs in 106 games, so he can join this list if he plays in Ontario's final four games. But while Morales strikes out in about 25% of his plate appearances, Shelton K's 34% of the time.

Would Mookie still have the range to cover right? Well, at the least we know he wouldn't get alligator arms when making a play at the wall.

his regression was minimal and he would have been significantly better than anyone we’ve put out there since

the move to SS had zero to do with decline, and was done solely to appease mookie’s selfish desire to play there

and (changing topics) the trickle down effect of roberts’ spinelessness has significantly altered the downward spiral of this team:

if roberts had said no, mookie would still be in RF and there would have been zero need to pursue tucker

not only that, but our diva “unicorn” would have been relegated solely to DH duties after his pitching injury or put on the IL

not doubting shohei’s potential to be a top pitcher, but the cost to the team’s offense is prohibitive
especially since we already have three aces in yama, skubal and snell

Why would anyone willingly live in the Midwest? Well, other than because the farmers' daughters make you feel alright?

Great Lakes was supposed to play a DH today to make up for a rainout earlier in the season. This is the final week and I believe the makeup has playoff ramifications. But now both games got rained today.

It IS summer there too, right?

OKC is fighting for a playoff spot and they've won six in a row to give themselves a great shot. The hero the last two games believe it or not is Alek Thomas - 2 HRs yesterday, and a big one today to take the lead in the 9th. I guess that shows that anybody can hit in that league. But really the one I want to highlight is Jackson Ferris who seems to have found his rhythm down the stretch as he did last year. Gave them 5.1 innings allowing only 1 run on 2 hits and 2 walks. Struck out 8, and now has allowed only 3 runs over his last 22.1 innings.
