@mike_petriello: Alex Guerrero is hitting .221/.259/.286 since returning to ABQ and can't play the left side of the infield, but let's totally rush him to LA

it's obviously too early to dig his grave, but gettin a nice portion of your ear bitten off..man, that has to fuck with a guy mentally. not to say that there isn't rust from the layoff and then he now probably knows for sure that his season is ending in the minors, so that doesn't help push the guy either.

Pretty sure I've never seen Mike Petriello post something that isn't a sarcastic jab at the fans

He's here for defense. No one is calling him a offensive wizard.

If Guerrero is having problems getting acclimated after his injury, you don't thrust him into the show right away where he could get killed by major league pitching.

This is more a problem with our depth in the minor leagues.

We already have a good defensive SS, a guy that has a chance to hit would be nice... oh wait, I forgot Truinfel can rake!

Except Guerrero isn't hitting, that is the problem. He's getting AB's everyday down in AAA so leave him there in the meantime and hopefully over the next couple of weeks he can knock the rust off. The dude had a LONG layoff where he couldn't do anything so getting everyday playing time down there is important. Would rather have him get the kinks out now and come up to help the team on September 1st and into the playoffs instead of getting called up and continuing his struggles with the big club.

i wouldn't put my money on Guerrero coming up this year..they didn't when traded for Barney. but we know he'll be with the big club next year..his contract says so.

Pederson should not be getting the call until Sept 1st thanks in part to Carl starting to FINALLY hit so there is no place for him. He's hitting .418 in his last 11 starts and has played great D. I know health isn't always his strongest suit, but before getting hurt earlier in the season, Carl had been playing great for a few weeks. If he's hitting like that again and stealing bases all while playing great D, Joc isn't the guy we need for help.

let's tell the story in full..Crawford's usually pretty good in August/September/October. it's just been that way in his career. the chore is getting him to this point. nobody complained about him when he turned into Lou Gehrig last October.

Didn't Mattingly already say that Joc and Guerrero would be up in Sept?

His game today is a perfect representation of his AAA season, all three true outcomes.

In other news Seager made his 9th error in AA today. He's probably just working on some stuff, but that seems like an excessive amount in a pretty short time period.

Damn! Urias is really good. 9 Ks in 4 innings so far.

    EDIT: Final line: 5IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB and 9Ks.

Thoughts on Jesmuel Valentin? Is he, by himself, a good return for Bert Hernandez?

    Klaw
Thought he was a good defensive shortstop who probably won't hit. Played second this year, so I'm not sure what we have any more. Not much of a return.

Do you feel people are sleeping on Joc Pederson being an elite prospect? He's tearing the cover off the ball in Triple A (will be the first with a 30/30 season in PCL history), by your accounts is a plus defender in center and has only gotten better as time has progressed. He may strike out a little too much but who doesn't nowadays. 4-5 win player at his peak? Maybe more?

    Klaw
I don't think anyone's sleeping on him. He's one of the best-known prospects in the minors. And I do worry about the strikeout rate and trouble against southpaws.
