I don't think you need stars at every position to win. But you better have guys that produce at every position: Table setters, base runners, RBImen, a few boppers - a dynamic batting order. That, good fielding and plenty of excellent pitching. And, of course, a desire to win - very important.

Miles managed to hit 419 in June. Other than that he was his usual lame self at the plate. And he made some ridiculously horrible errors at times. He doesn't really get on base or offer much in the field...I think bringing him back would be a mistake unless he's some kind of club house leader I dont know about.

Miles is closer to a number two hitter in the lineup than Ellis. Role: move guys over. If there was a choice, I would have gone for Miles - just to have a 2Bman that hits second. Ellis is an eighth place hitter no matter how you look at it - and such a player can be got for a lot less than 8Mil/2yrs+. I'm not sure why they went there - unless they know Uribe is done, which is possible. Then Ellis is the man who can fill both 2B and 3B. Maybe that's worth the price - a desperate move to cover the Uribe mistake.

But I'm not under any illusion that Aaron Miles is the great solution for 2B. I view him as a cheap temporary fix while working on the more pressing needs of the team - like finding a hitting 3Bman. I certainly wouldn't pay Aaron Miles Ellis-like money, that's for sure. I'd wait it out until spring, and if nobody signs Miles - offer him the change out of my pocket (you get my drift). If somebody picks him up - fine, and good luck - then hunt around for another 2Bman who can bat 2nd in the order. Maybe by then, the smoke has cleared, the bigger priorities are solved, and we can get a long term player in there at 2nd.

    Dodgers Los Angeles Dodgers
    '@BaseballAmerica Top #Dodgers prospects: 1-Lee 2-Webster 3-Eovaldi 4-Silverio 5-Reed 6-Gould 7-Withrow 8-Lindblom 9-Pederson 10-Federowicz
Love the pitching, but god damn our hitting is brutal. Fedorowicz didn't make the Red Sox top 20 and he's our #10, and Silverio wouldn't be top 10 on most systems
Can't believe Withrow is top 10 again

It says a lot when Alfredo Silverio is your 4th best prospect.
The only hitter I like is Joc Pederson... Hopefully he amounts to something useful.

No Songco, Van Slyke or Tolleson? Not really sure about this as a true top 10, especially with Fedex in there.

I like our system tbh, I'd throw Lee, Webster, Eovaldi and Reed up against any team's best 4 arms and take ours 85% of the time. The only problem I see with Webster and Eovaldi is that they're going to get rushed, they're 21, they should both get a full season in AA, and be in the rotation in 2013, but I don't see that happening, specifically for Eovaldi. And yeah we have no bats except Pederson and Castellanos, but let's also remembered we graduated Dee and Sands, so take any teams top two hitting spects and make them major leaguers and the system looks weak.

I like James Baldwin alot... he just strikes out wayyy too much. He's only 19 or 20 though I think so he has sometime to shorten his swing a little I guess

Yeah same here... Read somewhere that he and J. Pederson have the potential to be 5 tool players. Baldwin started off hot af but tailed off at the end...hopefully he works on his K rate... But Joc, I want to see him at A- next year and see how he holds.

Baldwin looks like he is motherfucking athletic, but needs to learn the hardest part about the game: hitting the ball.

I don't like Eo as much as much as Sickels. he def needs to be in the bullpen but he'll be our 5th starter because Ned sucks. plus Baldwin mos def needs to be on this list, he has as much upside as anyone in our farm
