And sure to piss other teams off at future trade deadlines when they aren't willing to just piss it all away.

So many options too. That is allowing us to resign good players on the cheap.
So much leverage too because of all those options and also the fact that the now have a rep of hard bargainers and cold dealers by not meeting the demands of a mercenary Greinke.

Dodgers invite De Jong to big league camp in spring training
by Eric Stephen | True Blue LA — 2 hours ago
    [IMG]
LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers have added another pitcher to their list of non-roster invitees to big league camp in spring training, with right-hander Chase De Jong getting the news on Saturday.

The Dodgers acquired De Jong and infielder Tim Locastro from the Blue Jays on July 2 for three of their four international bonus pool slots. The Dodgers planned to go well over their bonus pool anyway, which carried a 100-percent tax as penalty, so these allotted slot amounts had little value to them. The three slot values totaled $1,071,300, so trading them away meant the Dodgers would pay that much more in overage tax, meaning they paid just over $1 million for two prospects.

De Jong, now 22, had a 3.96 ERA in 11 games, 10 starts in the hitter-friendly California League with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga with 52 strikeouts (a 24.6 percent rate) and 15 walks in 50 innings. He was the Game 1 starter for the Quakes in both postseason series, helping them to the 2015 Cal League title.

The right-hander was ranked by our David Hood as the 22nd-best prospect in the Dodgers' system heading into the 2016 season.

Toronto drafted De Jong in the second round in 2012 out of Wilson High School in Long Beach. He was in minor league camp in his three spring trainings with the Blue Jays.

    Chase De Jong @ChaseDeJong
Got the news this morning that I have officially been invited
to my first major league spring training. Psalms 126:3
    3:41 PM - 30 Jan 2016

De Jong is the third-youngest non-roster invitee in Dodgers camp, older than only teammate and first baseman Cody Bellinger (20) and pitcher Julio Urias (19).

Pitchers and catchers are set to report to Dodgers big league camp on Feb. 19, with the first workout scheduled for Feb. 20. With the addition of De Jong, there are 18 non-roster invitees in camp, including eight pitchers.

Said it before and i'll say it again, they sold their soul (Swanson, Blair, Inciarte, 2016 1st round pick etc.) for 3 years of contending, at which point Miller, Corbin and Pollock will be free agents, and Goldschmidt will be after the next year.

I respect the balls it takes to say fuck it and go for it. Their team has improved. But in 3ish or so years AZ is gonna be entirely fucked for a while

The Dbacks are better than last year but they've been highly overrated by most people in the baseball world. Very Padre-esque.

They'll do better than the Padres but I don't think the current roster cracks 90 wins.

Rhame, Dirks get spring training invites
by Eric Stephen | Dodger Blue — 21 minutes ago
    [IMG]
LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers on Monday invited two more pitchers to big league camp in spring training, with right-handers Jacob Rhame and Caleb Dirks coming to Camelback Ranch as non-roster players when pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 19.

That, along with the addition of pitcher Chase De Jong, brings the total number of non-roster invitees to Dodgers camp at 20, including 10 pitchers.

Rhame, who turns 23 in March, put up a 2.68 ERA in 44 games in 2015, 39 of which were with Double-A Tulsa. After opening the season with seven scoreless innings with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga, retiring 20 of 23 batters faced, including 13 strikeouts, Rhame struck out 57 in 50 innings in Double-A. On the season, Rhame struck out 70 (a 31.3-percent rate) and walked 20 in 57 innings.

The Dodgers drafted Rhame in the sixth round in 2013.

Dirks was acquired with outfielder Jordan Paroubeck from the Braves on July 2 for an international bonus slot with a value of $249,000. He pitched a month for the Quakes in Class-A, then was promoted to Tulsa in August. After joining the Dodgers, Dirks put up a 1.16 ERA between Class-A and Double-A, with 35 strikeouts (a 36.8-percent rate) and eight walks in 23⅓ innings.

Dirks played his college ball at Cal Baptist University and was drafted by Atlanta in the 15th round in 2014. He turns 23 in June.

Rhame will wear number 79, and Dirks will wear 80. The rest of the uniform numbers for the non-roster invitees are now included on our list, which will be updated throughout spring training.

We're gonna see a very prospect heavy AAA, AA and A+ this year.

Starting at the top, we should figure to see Urias, JDL, Montas, Lee (depending on your opinion in regards to prospect status), Jharel Cotton, Ross Stripling, Caleb Dirks, Micah Johnson, Trayce Thompson (barring an unforeseen OF trade) and Austin Barnes. A few of these guys could get bumped to Tulsa if some of the vets they signed catch on in OKC.

At AA: Bellinger, Anderson (due to lack of a spot in AAA)

A+: Holmes, Calhoun, Verdugo, Scavuzzo, De Jong, Sborz
