That would be sweet if he got up to that, but he is not a big guy so I worry that he could break down. Rancho seems like a realistic possibility if he shows that yesterday was not just from him being super pumped about being back on the field.

I think they are also working on his amount of pitches here and there too. They let him hit 100, then bring it back a bit like his no-no game where he only threw 86 or something. That is fishy since he had thrown 8IP in a game this year and it came on the day that Kazmir goes down. Hopefully it does mean that they plan on using him this next start, though I'm now hesitant since he would be facing the Cubs.

I'm going to be really interested to see how sites look at our top prospects going into next season. We've had some guys who got off to slow/late starts that are starting to come on strong, some top guys who seem to be wearing down and not really anyone who has sustained a strong full season of work(In our top 10). It could be interesting if there is a shakeup in our top 25. That is not to say that a lot of these guys have not had good or better seasons, we just have not had that one guy that put together a full body of work like Puig, Pederson, Seager and Urias had done leading up to this season.
Just basing on the MLB Top 30
    1. Bellinger - Was hurt early, slow start, up and down numbers though he's hitting the shit out of the ball. Has 19 HR, would have 20 if not for an amazing catch the other night. Has supposedly had real bad BABIP luck as he's still be hitting the shit out of the ball by all accounts.
    2. De Leon - Was hurt early, great 1 start, hurt again, didn't look great, now pitching fantastic again. I've reached out to OKC reporter to see where his velocity is as there was a rumor that it was down a good bit before this good run. BA says he's ready to be up now and could pitch in playoffs for us.
    3. Verdugo- Tremendous all season, but hit a lull where his BA dropped nearly 40 points. Picked it back up the last 7-8 games or so, but not hitting for a ton of power. Does not K much and his K/BB rate is a little less than 3/2. Great news for a team with a lot of young swing and miss guys. His D has supposedly regressed, but has a true cannon for an arm. Report said he was ready for call up, then he went into funk. Just 20 years old.
    4. Calhoun- Like Verdugo, pretty steady performance all season that saw him hit a wall a few weeks ago(the whole Tulsa team did, though). Starting to pick things back up. Very similar to AV where his K/BB rate is less than 3/2, but this guy has some pop. Has been getting a lot of pub lately that this guy is the real deal. Glove is still a work in progress, but word his that he is a great kid and hard worker.
    5. Diaz- Slow start, got hurt, got hot, got hurt, played like shit, got hot, tapered off. Not the best of first seasons for the Cuban signee, but word is that he is working on some quirks in his play and it is starting to pay off. Has some work to do in the off season and still only 19.
    6. Alvarez- Late start, Really fucking good. Seems to be figuring out command issues well for a 20 year old who throws triple digits. High praise going around for this guy, but needs to refine 3rd and 4th pitches. LH and 80 FB pitchers are usually slower to develop. The Dodgers have 2 good ones that are just 20.
    7. Buehler- Recovering from TJ, one very promising outing. Flashed top of rotation stuff in one start earlier this week. I'll attempt to temper excitement until he's throwing more than 2IP. Not Ace potential like Urias or Alvarez, but 2-3 is reality.
    8. Sheffield- 2016 draft pick, taking it easy down the stretch. Not doing anything flashy thus far. Future could be in bullpen as like Buehler, his build does not scream long term starter. Big fastball, solid secondary offerings, could move quick if converted to pen.
    9. Lux- 2016 1st Rnd Pick- Decent start in AZL. No pop and doesn't sound like he will likely develop much. Does everything else pretty well. Would be a more defensive minded replacement for Seager in 4 or so years in all likelihood for his eventual move to 3B. Striking out a fair bit, but he's a northern HS player so likely slower development time.
    10. Barnes- Is doing what he always does, having a solid, not spectacular season and still showing signs of being a good backup catcher with UTL role potential. It is assumed with Ruiz trade that he has lost luster with FO, but may also be viewed as a good trade piece and expendable with the younger version of himself now in organization...
    11. Smith- 2016 Draft Pick- A very toolsy catcher who will not hit for power. This is the guys that makes Barnes expendable and he is likely going to be the better big league player. Bud Norris was very impressed by this kid who is already playing high A. Team is moving him around the IF to make him more useful. Not hitting right now in HiA, but still getting on base. Has struck out a fair bit since signing.
    12. Estevez- SLOOOOOOOW Start, but 18 year old has really turned things around. Read multiple reports that scouts are very impressed by this kid and should be interesting to watch in HiA at 19 next year. Apparently really did not like the cold MWL to start the season. Another bat first 2B, but team has also used him at SS.
    13. Heredia- Playing decently in DSL, but I have heard nothing about him.
    14. Stewart- Impressive rise for the kid who has still maintained a good bit of dominance in AAA since bouncing back and forth from the bigs. Key for him will be to use what he has learned and comeback better for it next season if the big club comes calling. Most likely a sell high trade candidate, but could be interesting middle/back of the rotation pitcher.
    15. Sborz- Pitcher of the year in HiA, but since being moved to the pen, has gotten roughed up in Tulsa in a SSS. People have been very impressed by him and some believe he now has rotation potential at the big league level.
    16. Abdullah- Late Start, This kid is getting very high praise from the reports I'm seeing. Late getting into the game, but has blossomed into a pitcher with front of the rotation potential. Big bodied kid who attacks the zone and has a good bit of projectability.
    17. De Jong- Was having a good year, then added a cutter and has really taken off. I haven't heard or read anything lately about where folks see him going, but is likely a solid trade piece going into the offseason. Not bad as he was acquired for slot room. Had a terrible last outing, but not putting much stock into it.
    18. Davis- Still has a lot of work to do. Apparently just a super athlete, but very very very very raw. Still only 19, but may need to repeat LoA.
    19. Rhame- Not the season I was hoping for from the fireballer. Has been decent lately, but there have been some real stinkers mixed in. Have heard nothing about him this year.
    20. Scavuzzo- Got off to a good start and has completely faded. Scouts seem to still really like his athletic ability, but will really need to put together a complete season next year.
    21. Johnson- He's been a HUGE letdown this year. Also doesn't seem like baseball is his main interest in life. Have heard nothing about him, but a .253/.316/.346 line and 25 SB's in the PCL during your age 25 season will not cut it. Dude is supposed to possess elite speed and it is not translating into his game.
    22. Brito- Glove first SS hasn't done much so far in the DSL. Reports out of there don't usually come until after the season.
    23. Mieses- HOLY POWER SURGE BATMAN! This guy went on an absolute tear. He has since cooled off, but he hit somewhere in the neighborhood of 37 HR's in about a week. In reality, big pop, big athlete, big swing and miss. I've seen scouts that think this dude is the real deal, while others think he will never make it to the show. Just 21, so he still could develop into something special.
    24. Farmer- Here we are continuing the trend of glove first, no pop catchers in the Top 30. Farmer is also being thrown around the diamond to be a better all around option. Already 26, but decent backup potential and his teammates seem to love him.
    25. Ruiz- Helium kid! 18 year old has hit well this year across the AZL and PIO League. Not striking out a ton and following the 3/2 K/BB trend seen earlier on this list. Advanced skills at the catcher position for his age.
    26. Rios- Now in his 3rd level for the year and is still holding his own. Slow start dragged his numbers down in AA, but began to hit more like he did in HiA before hitting the Tulsa lull that struck the entire team at the same time. Big pop for the 3B, needs to K less and show better discipline in general at the plate. Second in org with 27 HRs...in 98 games.
    27. Hansen- Great start in Ogden, thought he'd get a chance at GL and has since tapered off. So he will get his first chance at LoA at the age of 21 :-/ for a former high round pick.
    28. Toles- We all know what he's doing.
    29. White- Not a bad start to his professional career. Heard he has been impressive and the results show that. 18 IP, 6 H, 24K, 6 BB and 0 ER across the AZL and MWL. Should be interesting to watch next season as he was a late bloomer.
    30. Oaks- No clue what to make of this guy. Like Stewart, has flown through the ranks this year and has pitched great. No a strikeout pitcher and pitches to contact. Can work if he keeps control and pounds the bottom of the zone. His velocity is apparently seeing a heavy tick upwards though MLB has it at 44 which would be bad.

Trevor Oaks left today's start after 2 batters. Errol Robinson has been solid in his 1st big league season down in Ogden, Utah. Starling Heredia only 17 playing in the DSL has been decent at the plate hitting 5 HR's obviously being as young as he is K's are way up there. 1 0 for 10 in stolen bases.

Jose De Leon named PCL Pitcher of the Week
by Matthew Moreno | Dodger Blue — moments ago

Los Angeles Dodgers top pitching prospect Jose De Leon was named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for a dominant pair of starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City from Aug. 22-28.

De Leon went 2-0 with 14.2 shutout innings with 23 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .100/.100/.160 batting line. The right-hander is currently in the midst of a 17.2 scoreless innings streak; he flirted with a no-hitter on Aug. 22.

On Sunday, De Leon finished with 13 strikeouts over 7.2 innings, falling one shy for most by an Oklahoma City pitcher in a single game since the club joined the PCL in 1998.

It also fell just short of De Leon’s career-high 14 strikeouts, set in 2014 with Low-A Great Lakes. His performance nonetheless helped the team clinch a second consecutive American Northern Division title.

De Leon’s recorded three straight double-digit strikeout games, and is the first pitcher Oklahoma City pitcher in PCL era to have five double-digit strikeout games in a season.

Overall this year, De Leon is 7-1 with a 2.61 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in 16 starts. Also on Monday, Rob Segedin was named to the 2016 All-PCL team. He led Oklahoma City and the league in several offensive categories prior to having his contract selected by the Dodgers earlier this month.

Other Oklahoma City pitchers to take home weekly honors this season include Trevor Oaks (last week), and former Dodgers prospect Jharel Cotton in May.

Appears their is enough season left for Alvarez to make 1 more start, and with OKC punching their postseason ticket, JDL should have at least 2 more.
