It's an improvement over the last outing. Only referred to the 10 runs scored but 6 earned obviously minor detail.

I was impressed to see the OKC team go as far as they did without basically any of the young pitching that could have been there if not for injuries and only giving a taste to the teams top hitting prospects. Shows well for the depth department in the years down the road. OKC will be pretty fun to watch next season potentially with Bellinger, Verdugo, Calhoun, Garlick, Farmer, Oaks, De Jong and maybe even Walker Buehler as a quick mover.

Top 175 Prospect in Review by Minor League Ball. Really like Sickles, seems to have differing opinions on lesser known prospects, but is a pretty decent projector.

Top 25 consists of Seager, Urias and De Leon each met or exceeded expectations and are A Grades. De Leon was a B+/A- going into the season.
    http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016...or-2016-reviewing-the-outcomes-prospects-1-25

25-50 consists of Maeda and former prospect Olivera. Maeada retained his B+ rating, Olivera has been shot out of a cannon into the sun.
    http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016...r-2016-reviewing-the-outcomes-prospects-26-50

50-75 has Verdugo maintaining his B+ great after good, but not great year in AA(though he was young). Also has former prospect Peraza who has hit the ground running in Cincy. Wondering if poor display in AAA was from being bored more than anything. Also has a ton of Rockies prospects if you're curious about what they have coming
    http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016...r-2016-reviewing-the-outcomes-prospects-51-75

75-100 Has Diaz and former prospect Holmes. He has Diaz up to a B+ after an initial B. Thinks a big year is ahead for him, which is what I have seen now a couple of times from people that really like his skill set. Holmes maintained, but sounding like bust potential.

Some things about our org with him. He was bully on Verdugo more than most other besides maybe Law. He is like me in that he likes his advanced plate discipline even if the power is not there yet. Had Bellinger as a B going into the season and I am guessing that he will be in the next batch as he was on the cusp of most top 100's entering the season. Based on what I am reading and hearing, good chance Bellinger is upgraded to an A- as he may enter next season as a top 20 prospect. Should see a few more names in the next 75 beyond Bellinger with Montas, Cotton(the traded's), Barnes, Calhoun and maybe another guy or two. Not sure where Alvarez placed as they had him as a C+/B-

Thanks. It was the only good result from the teams in the playoffs unfortunately but a pretty good season by all the kids in the system.

Here is the rest of the list
101-125 with Bellinger and Montas. He has Bellinger up to a B+ which is really surprising as a lot of people think Bellinger is a better prospect than anything else we have in the system. I was thinking A- on the low side. My guess is he is refraining from making any strong decisions on a guy he kept low until after the AFL. It really sounds like Bellinger is going to be something special as he is a hard worker and is continuing to shape and reshape his game to become a major league contributor. He also has Montas up to a B+ from a B based on the way he looked in the short stints when he pitched this year. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016...2016-reviewing-the-outcomes-prospects-101-125

    126-150 Nobody http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016...r-2016-reviewing-the-outcomes-players-126-150

150-175 is finished off with 3 Dodgers prospects in Austin Barnes, Yadier Alvarez and Willie Calhoun. Basically his sentiment on Barnes is that he is a major leaguer already. I thought for sure that next year was going to be Barnes' first year with an everyday job, but I think the plan now will be to pick up Ruiz's option and move Barnes for a valuable BP piece. The team now has two Austin Barnes 2.0 versions in the MiLB with Kyle Farmer and Will Smith. It is also too bad that this guy still hasn't had a shot, seems like a good dude and will never get a good payday even if he turns out decent. Alvarez was a B- and is now looking at likely an A- once he sees more reports, but thus far the reports are favorable. That could be some pretty elite status going into 2017. Calhoun still getting good reports on his hit tool, but defense is still very suspect. Didn't mention grade, but I would guess he is up to a B as his combo of power and contact is legit. I've seen reports that he is working hard at getting better at 2B. It hasn't clicked yet, but his hand-eye coordination makes me think that he will figure things out to become potentially a league average 2B. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2016...2016-reviewing-the-outcomes-prospects-151-175

Overall, the reports are once again glowing for the Dodgers. This didn't even mention Toles, Stewart, Buehler(who is getting some GREAT reviews), Sheffield, White(also getting good pub), Lux, Smith, Estevez, Sborz, De Jong and Rios who all had big years or good first impressions after being high draft picks. I think people are going to focus too much on Moncada already up with the Sox and their dynamite crop of young spects, but it is looking like the Dodgers did really well with Alvarez, Diaz and Estevez.

Dodgers Top Prospects from the AZL

    2. Yadier Alvarez, rhp, Dodgers |
    Age: 20. B-T: R-R. Ht: 6-3. Wt: 175. Signed: Cuba, 2015.
Alvarez was one of the jewels of the Dodgers’ 2015 international period, signing in July for $16 million. He finally made it to the U.S. partway through spring training in 2016 and impressed observers as quickly as his electric right arm delivered 100 mph fastballs.
“(He’s) learning how to be part of a team and getting used to pitching against different types of competition,” longtime Dodgers manager John Shoemaker said.
The Dodgers kept Alvarez in Arizona to allow him to acclimate to life in the U.S. He moved to low Class A in mid-July after showing off his athleticism and extremely loose arm. He uses a three-quarters to high three-quarters arm slot he repeats well. He hides the ball well in his delivery, allowing his pitches to get on batters quickly. His fastball ranged from 94-100 mph and it’s very easy velocity.
Alvarez gets good angle on a plus low-80s curveball and late action on an 84-88 mph slider. He didn’t use his changeup very often, but it flashed plus at times and is best as a harder pitch from 86-91 mph.

    9. Gavin Lux, ss, Dodgers |
    Age: 18. B-T: L-R. Ht: 6-2. Wt: 190. Drafted: HS—Kenosha, Wis., 2016 (1).
Prior to signing as the 20th overall pick, Lux had committed to play at Arizona State. He instead made his pro debut at the Dodgers’ complex, 30 miles west of the ASU campus. He started nearly every AZL game at shortstop, batting at or near the top of the order.
With tools that don’t necessarily jump out, Lux won over scouts and rival AZL managers with his steady play. He’s an advanced defender with quick feet and at least a solid-average arm, and he showed the ability to make all the plays at shortstop.
He takes a good approach, good bat speed and a low-maintenance swing to the plate, profiling best as a patient, line-drive hitter. The biggest criticism was that Lux was sometimes too selective at the plate. He’s a plus runner but he didn’t attempt many stolen bases.
Lux impressed the Dodgers staff with his makeup and work ethic. “I’ve seen a professional attitude,” Dodgers manager John Shoemaker said, “someone who’s willing to listen and who’s able to adapt.”

    12. Dustin May, rhp, Dodgers
    Age: 18. B-T: R-R. Ht: 6-6 Wt: 180. Drafted: HS—Justin, Texas, 2016 (3).
May certainly stood out on the field during his first pro season, and not just for his pitching. The gangly Texas prep product flashed the most noticeable flow, with bushy red hair sticking out beneath his blue Dodgers cap.
May signed for $997,500 and is more than just looks. With an athletic, projectable body that should get stronger, he delivers a low-90s fastball, touching 93 mph, with good sink and movement. Scouts project his 80-83 mph slider to be a future above-average offering. His too-firm upper-80s changeup was used infrequently and is very much a work in progress. May throws from an over-the-top arm slot that he repeats well, and he’s aggressive and fearless on the mound.
While May is plenty raw, his ability to fill up the strike zone (34 strikeouts, four walks) is just one of many promising signs for the future.

Top Prospects from the Pioneer League

    7. D.J. Peters, of, Ogden (Dodgers)
    Age: 20. B-T: R-R. Ht: 6-6. Wt: 225. Drafted: Western Nevada CC, 2016 (4).
Signed for $247,500 out of the last Western Nevada team (the program folded due to budget issues), Peters dotted the PL leaderboards, ranking first in total bases (161) and runs (63). He reminds observers of Jayson Werth—and not just for his flowing locks. Peters has a good feel for the barrel and plus raw power. While he’s aggressive at the plate and grinds at-bats, he shows some plate discipline and generally lays off bad pitches.
Peters takes a little while to get up to full speed because of his size, but he shows average speed, if not better, from first base to third with long, gliding strides. He split his time between center and right and fits better in right. His arm grades as plus for some scouts.
“Power bat, batting average, good speed—he’s a real good package,” Helena manager Nestor Corredor said.

    13. Mitch Hansen, of, Ogden (Dodgers) |
    Age: 20. B-T: L-L. Ht: 6-4. Wt: 210. Drafted: HS—Plano, Texas, 2015 (2).
One of three Ogden outfielders in the top 20, Hansen is the only one with previous pro experience coming into the season. Scouts noticed an improved, easier swing with some power that draws comparisons with former big leaguer Shawn Green.
Hansen will need to develop more consistency and make better contact to get to his raw power, but he took a nice step forward by finishing fifth in the league in home runs (11) and second in total bases (144).
Hansen is an average defender in the corners with a fringe-average arm, showing improvement in tracking fly balls as the season progressed. An above-average runner now, he may slow down a tick as he grows out of his long, lean frame.
“He’s come a long way, both on defense and on offense,” Ogden manager Shaun Larkin said. “He gets the job done.”

    14. Cody Thomas, of, Ogden (Dodgers)
    Age: 21. B-T: L-R. Ht: 6-4. Wt: 211. Drafted: Oklahoma, 2016 (13).
Thomas has less baseball experience than other prospects his age. He played only one full season of baseball at Oklahoma after spending most of his college career as a backup quarterback (he appeared in 10 games, accounting for 484 yards of total offense). He signed for an above-slot $297,500 as a 13th-round pick and showed loads of natural athleticism and strength packed onto a tall, lean physique.
Thomas finished second in the PL in home runs (16) despite starting the summer with seven Rookie-level Arizona League games. His power tool is ahead of his hitting ability. His swing has some pop but also some stiffness, and he needs to improve his pitch recognition in order for the power to play in full-season ball.
Spending time at all three outfield positions in Ogden, Thomas projects to be an average defender with an average arm, best suited for an outfield corner. He’s an average runner.
“I could really see him taking off once he goes through instructional league and spring training,” Gemoll said, “when he gets a full year and dedicates it to baseball. He’s a pretty interesting guy.”

    16. Keibert Ruiz, c, Ogden (Dodgers)
    Age: 18 B-T: B-R. Ht: 6-0. Wt: 165. Signed: Venezuela, 2014.
Ruiz was the youngest player in the PL in 2016, having just turned 18 when he arrived in Ogden after eight games in the Rookie-level Arizona League.
Scouts praised Ruiz’s advanced defensive skills behind the plate even before the Dodgers signed him for $140,000, and Ogden manager Shaun Larkin said Ruiz’s receiving skills and ability to lead the pitching staff were “off the charts.” He has an average arm now and could get stronger with physical maturity. He threw out 22 percent of basestealers.
A pure hitter from both sides of the plate, Ruiz shows good plate discipline and a contact-oriented approach that helped him rank fourth in the league in batting (.354). Scouts noted that Ruiz could stand to be more aggressive at the plate, and that his high hand set caused him to be late to the ball at times. He’s a gap-to-gap hitter now with little power, but he should develop more pop with added strength.

I like the focus the new FO has put on obtaining solid catching prospects. It's funny how it seems they're all similar in their skill sets. Good contact/no power/Good OB skills/advanced receivers/good game callers/athletic for position. They're loading up on lottery tickets that have high floors for the position. Grandal hopefully buys them plenty of time and the opportunity to develop these guys at a casual pace and move them if they can.

    same
but the write up does anticipate ruiz developing more power
whether that happens and how much remains to be seen
but like @Man Ray implied, a reason to be optimistic/excited for sure
and agree wholeheartedly on grandal too

When they are as young as he is(and samll, 160 lbs!), you can always presume more power will come. MLB says he has potential to reach double digit HR numbers, which would be good, but not elite. That doesn't scream elite catcher in the making to me yet, but he is definitely someone I want to watch.
