more often than not these kids dont reach their full potential
lets hope he does, but i was being cautious
he wouldnt suck if all he was was old Adrian but with a young body to run the bases and be versatile enough to fill in at the corner OF spots if needed
he would be a good major leaguer with a long career

After re-reading, I think there was a miscommunication as I originally misread what you wrote and then made things worse with a typo. I don't want him up to replace AGon this year unless A. AGon is terrible AND B. Bellinger is just going ham in AAA.
As for the year after, of things continue to go well for him in AAA, they may need to explore how to get him at 1B. It's very true that not all prospects work out, but I think the scouting is getting considerably better as our tech is improving, more people are able to see these guys one way or another and the super top prospects generally don't miss as much. He hasn't displayed major attributes yet to make people feel that he may not make it and all he has done is get better as he's progressed through the ranks, while adjusting to flaws on the fly. He's gone from a "hey he's interesting" to "holy shit, this guy is one of the top prospects in baseball." Like I posted a long while back, one scout thinks he'll be the top prospect in the game at some point next season. This kid is going to be exciting and he could likely push a much beloved player out the door.
On a side note, did anyone see the comparison he got? Paul Konerko... now I really don't want to trade him. *Only because I don't want to relive that shit again*

Cody Bellinger carried his performance from last week and the Fall Stars Game into Week 5 of the Arizona Fall League, with four extra-base hits in his four games this week. Bellinger, who homered in last Saturday’s top prospect showcase, went 6-for-15 (.400) with two home runs and two doubles for the Glendale Desert Dogs this week. He walked three times, scored eight runs and drove in seven. He has scored a run in five straight games, and reached base by hit or walk in 11 straight contests, 12 if you count the Fall Stars Game.

Willie Calhoun, who won the MVP of the Fall Stars Game last Saturday, played in three games this week, going 3-for-10 (.300) with two walks and two runs batted in.

Alex Verdugo was busy hitting extra-base hits for Mexico at the Tokyo Dome, and didn’t play this week in the AFL. Tim Locastro hasn’t played since Oct. 29.

On the pitching side, Chris Anderson had a start to forget on Tuesday against Scottsdale. He faced eight batters and didn’t retire a single one, allowing six hits and a walk. Tim Tebow reached on a fielding error, made by Anderson. Eight runs were charged to Anderson in that start, seven of them earned.

Joe Broussard had two scoreless appearances, including a save on Friday at Scottsdale, with four strikeouts in two scoreless innings for the week.

Ralston Cash also had two scoreless innings in two appearances, with three strikeouts.

Corey Copping allowed a hit and a walk in his only inning of the week, on Wednesday at Peoria, but still pitched a scoreless frame.

Cody Bellinger was rated the top 1B prospect in the AFL by MiLB.com.
1B: Cody Bellinger (Dodgers' No. 1)
Bellinger, 21, missed the first month of the 2016 season but had a solid year at Double-A Tulsa, hitting .263 with 23 homers and 65 RBIs before an impressive late-season showing in Triple-A. The No. 31 overall prospect was a clear standout in the AFL, where he hit .314 with three homers in 20 games for Glendale. Bellinger also paced the circuit in doubles (eight) and finished third in RBIs (17) and OPS (.981).

Doesn't include his HR in the Fall Star Game.

This was followed up by a weird twitter argument between Jim Callis and a Twitterer. The tweeter felt Callis was underselling Bellinger by saying he preferred Dansby Swanson.... which yeah, so would I. Callis did end it by saying that their is not a big gap between the two which would be really interesting. Like does he mean that Swanson has dropped in his eyes, or has Beliinger taken another step forward? Swanson had a solid debut while Bellinger has had two big years in a row so I believe it is the latter.

Yeah that's a weird comparison in general, but I guess it's not as much a comparison as it is a match up..still.
Swanson doesn't have Bellinger-ish thump, much smaller guy, locked in at SS while Bellinger moves all around the diamond.
Prospect value wise, I could understand if some preferred to have a Bellinger type over a Swanson or at the very least feel they're close in value..not trying to undersell Swanson as he's damn good and proven, but again, from tools standpoint just different types of players.

Shocking Breaking News: Cody Bellinger was named AFL top 1B prospect by MiLB.com. Don't know who could have seen this coming after he was placed in their top 5 AFL prospect list.

Man, today's trade ticks me off. Moncada chose less money to go to Boston (also stated to play right away, but there were other reports he preferred Sox for Ortiz and such). Had he chosen to wait another couple months, he's probably the starting 2B for a contender and a couple million dollars richer, now he'll be playing for a bottom dweller for few years.

Don't feel too bad he got paid and he'll have a chance to play immediately instead of toiling in the minors. He'll be in his prime when he's eligible to become a free agent to boot. :D

I don't feel sorry for him, just pissed we didn't get him initially. Would have been sweet to have him and Seager up the middle making the league minimum!

Barring a trade of course, the AAA lineup with Bellinger, Verdugo and Calhoun will be fun to watch.

This was a cool article about how the Dodgers have spent a good bit of money upgrading their DR academy. They saw this CBA coming a couple years ago and decided to get ahead of the curve to try to lure more guys in once caps came more into play. Some notes, they added another 1.5 fields, put in a training center that rivals Camelback and my favorite part, the team is bringing in teachers and nutrition experts to show the players the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. I have felt this was why so many prospects have taken steps forward in recent years as MiLB'ers live a pretty shitty life that includes poor nutrition habits.

If Puig gets demoted again, we know he won't be going to OKC

This is why I can't read Facebook anymore. Out of touch Dodger fans rip the FO at every turn. "You can't win games punching numbers into a computer!" ...yet they've invested so heavily in scouting, player development, nutrition, strength and conditioning, coaching, etc etc.

They are building this franchise the right way.

We should've won the World Series in 2013 or 2014. We blew it. It's not the Nerds job to end a drought. They have to do what's right for the long term.

It is not just facebook, it's all over social media and it is even in casual/uninformed fans you talk to out and about. Try to explain this to them and you will get a "yeah, but have they won anything yet?" They think this plan has been in place for 10 years, not you know, the actual 2. This stuff does not happen overnight. The new ownership I feel made a mistake when they came in and didn't blow everything up. We've found out that Logan White and Colletti did not like one another, the owners let Ned put his fingers on the product to try and get things going, but did it the wrong way. Thanks to that, we are hamstrung with bad contracts and expensive declining players and a farm system that is FINALLY starting to produce. The next couple of seasons should be interesting to watch to see how the farm continues to push out MLB ready players and how the FO can mix and match to get the roster straight. The way the Cubs are going about things now is how this FO wants to operate with goof cheap young players and filling spots around them with FA talent when need be, This offseason showed they still aren't comfortable yet since they still had to dip into the FA market hard while risking tax penalties. I feel this is going to be another point in baseball where the Dodgers organization changes the game and we start seeing teams take better care of their prospects in an attempt for them to better develop.

I think it's easier to say that now. But I don't completely agree.

The 2013 magic castle Dodgers were necessary. This market wouldn't be able to accept a 5 year tank job. Guggehmeim came in and saved the brand by investing in the team, stadium, farm, etc. We've had the best of both worlds, just come up short in the playoffs.

I should have been more clear, I meant blow up the FO as it was a legitimate mess and have Kasten run the day to day with White behind him, not Colletti. This could have been the short term to get to Friedman, but the Colleti/White/Watson relationship was a mess and Ned showed he didn't know what the F he was doing.
