Could move Bellinger to LF if they wanted JT at 1st.

It sucks that Adrian isn't a productive 1Bman anymore. I'm seriously going to miss him because it's the end of a brief era (the magic castle Dodgers).

We need to move on though.

I'd be surprised if we pursue Braun. If we didn't go strongly enough after him at the trade deadline this year, I don't see how circumstances have changed enough from then and now to make us better suited for a deal. We couldn't hit lefties then or now. Braun still has a lot of years on his deal. He would look good in the middle of our lineup, I'd be surprised though.

Bellinger could easily end up in the corner OF, has a ton of defensive versatility, even plays some CF.
Instead of Braun they'll probably consider trading for Longoria and having him play 3B or 1B.
I could see JT in LF next season, joining the platoon parade out there.
If JT doesn't hit LHP he can't be at the top of the order in a premium spot on those days anymore.
.190 hitter in the 3 spot VS LHP all year...that shit was cheeks, enough of that garbage for sure.

Sounds like a broken record, but we need another SP with post season success, shore up the BP, and get a dependable bat that can hit LHP.

And like another broken record, we will get rehab projects off the scrap heap and rely on our depth and youth.

I would resign Turner and Jansen.

I'd trade Puig, JDL and any combo of prospects/fringe guys like Austin Barnes and Trayce Thompson for Braun, Tyler Thornburg and Hernan Perez or Jonathan Villar.

I'd try for Greinke too, but if not resign Hill.

    I'd go Kershaw-Greinke/Hill-Urias-Maeda-BMac/Kazmir

Thornburg is a BP ace to pair with Kenley. I also like Fields and Dayton going forwards so I'm not worried about the pen.

Braun and Perez/Villar fix LF and 2B. Joc plays CF. Bring back Chooch for a year. Toles, Ethier and Howie/cheap FA signing to hit LHP play RF, the infield is set.

That's a pretty good team that 1) doesn't fuck up our chances to get Machado or Harper next summer and 2) will surely lose to someone and break our hearts

Get Trout and Harper along with every team's best player. And every team's best best pitcher and the four best relief pitchers in baseball. Throw in the best manager.
And we lose in October, anyway.

Hopefully they try to sign Cespedes to a deal similar to the one he signed with the Mets last off-season before they go through all that mess for Braun.
Can find another way to clear salary and stay under the luxury tax.

Would have liked to seen Thompsons production over an entire season. Was unsold on the guy, but he had a Kempish swing (meant as a compliment).

I really wouldn't mind signing a top tier chemist for next years roster. Someone who can pump our guys full of performance enhancers and not get detected till about 2023.

Not even going to talk names yet(other than the guys will attempt to re-sign), it's just too soon. Just speaking in general in-terms of how they can/need to get better.

*Get more right-handed. This is pretty obvious, by years end it was just ridiculous some of the lefties that were schooling them.
*Address the rotation in one of two ways: 1) Bring back Rich Hill, but this likely means the depth must be kept (Stewart, Stripling Wood etc) because Hill can't be counted on for more than 20-25 starts. 2) Pursue a younger front-end option at the cost of assets (Quintana, Archer etc) with the return being some combination of JDL/Bellinger/Alvarez/Verdugo/Calhoun/Barnes etc
*Try to keep much of the bullpen intact, obviously that hinges on Jansen.

I could go either way on Hill. I didn't enjoy the blister problems in his short time here, but it seems like a relatively easy thing to get under control.

If I'm honest, my biggest worry about not signing Hill is what if we have to face him? If we faced him 5 times in a season he would throw 5 complete game shutouts against us.

Welp, they went down with a whimper and showed me that big changes need to be had.
First off, the front office, the "savy" moves of getting decent fill in FA's for cheap has continuously catastrophically backfired. Kazmir is a total disaster, Anderson was great until he bit us in the ass, McCarthy is now broken goods with questionable makeup, Utley imploded basically the whole second half of the season(plus him and Seager up the middle is a dud in the double play turning department) and Blanton was great until the light got a little too bright for him. Their trades at the time have each looked highly questionable, but have all basically paid off in some way shape or form. The Reds/White Sox deal is now getting somewhat annoying as I watched Peraza light things up down the stretch, but we can't forget how valuable Trayce Thompson was. Had he stayed healthy, we very well could be singing a different tune. Their building of the farm has been nothing short of spectacular. Going into 2017, it should still be regarded as one of the best in baseball while still never picking in the bottom half of the draft, or going through any sort of a fire sale while graduating 3 of the top prospects in the game over the last 2 years. With that said. my big request is...no more scrap heap signings for key roles in 2017! I would like to see this FO utilize some of their other strengths, luckily it is a shitty FA year, so hopefully we don't sign some washed up guy to anchor our rotation. I think it is time for the club to start moving some of the pieces around, they've got plenty of assets and an abundance of players that need a place to play, I hope they start making those moves as our age caught up to us BIG time.

    Excellent review.
Imo, the best prospects in the game, and top notch farm system as well it may be, anything that may come of these positively, is negated by the garbage signings of injured and way past their prime starters.
An endless string of potential failures, who in the end, lived up to that always impending potential completely.
