‏@Ned2point0 In the middle of the post-game press conference, Buck Showalter turns to Zach Britton and tells him to start warming up in the bullpen.

Buck was waiting until the O's scored a run, then Britton, obviously. Didn't work out that way, since the O's hit like girl scouts, inning after inning.
    The best laid plans...
    But Ubaldo..c' mon Buck...

Sometimes, when trying to win a ballgame, stopping the other team scoring runs is also important. Haha.

That thinking is always so weird to me. Why would you want a lesser reliever to try and give up ZERO runs meanwhile your better reliever be given the comfort that he can give up, at minimum, one run.

At the end of the day, the Orioles had a top 3 Cy Young finisher and they didn't put him in an elimination game

Showalter has always come across as a "by the book" and not very creative/smart guy. Super dull. I also find it weird that he has bounced around so much over the years, good at getting hired and fired. He would drive me crazy if he was managing my team. There is no excuse for not pitching Britton. None.

dan plesac has been saying it all night
if you're a baltimore fan it would be easier to accept the loss if it happened with your best pitcher on the mound

That makes sense during the season, you don't want to burn your best arm in a losing effort if you can help it. But in the playoffs there are certain rules that change, and this is one of them.

It is...or at least, certainly was. The guys I knew and their families were classy, honorable people, who went out of their way to show hospitality and superb manners and pride in their country...and what Americans thought was very important to them.
It really is a shame some cowardly, drunken scumbags paint them all as vulgarians, because they definitely are not.

Yeah, with what happened, that would be spot on...
But with the O's offense, near the top in many stats, I believe it is not unreasonable to assume ypur O will score a run...then a Britton shut down.
However, the Jay pen was super, so waiting for the O's O caught up with the plan, and rendered it moot.
There were many who thought Buck's IW in an earlier inning, and pitching to Bautista was stupidity personified, and it worked brilliantly.
    If it works, you're a genius...if it doesn't, you're a boring asshole.

Always liked James...got a bad rap because he didn't hit lots of HRs.
And HRs never really were his strength.
Just the useless 85 RBIs every year, and played 1st as good as anyone in MLB.
