You know, if you watch from far away enough, squint, take a couple of drinks and a pill or two, the Cubs unis look kinda like the Dodgers. You can just sit their stoned and pretend they are.

Remember people saying this when the Royals were in the WS. So getting stoned or wasted and watching teams in blue is the closest we will get to seeing the Dodgers in the WS. Sweet.

Just throwing out names, but some lefty mashers theoretically available via FA or trade at positions of need (either 2B or corner OF):

Danny Valencia (Ranked 19th in wRC+ vs L via fangraphs)
*Steve Perace (10th in wRC+ vs L if you change the minimum to 90 PAs)
Ryan Braun (11th among qualifiers in wRC+ vs L)
Brian Dozier (16th among qualifiers in wRC+ vs L)
*Neil Walker (9th in wRC+ vs L when you change the minimum to 110 PAs)
*Yoenis Cespedes (6th in wRC+ vs L when you change the minimum to 100 PAs)

    *denotes free agents

Haha...the bottom of the barrel, that is. Pretending the winning team is the Dodgers...lol.
Kinda like the skank you brought home when the bar closed is Jessica Biel...

He'd have to be an idiot, there is no way he possibly does that, right? He opts out and the Dodgers would slap the tag on him so fast.

    he's owed over $35mm
dodgers would probably give him $10mm to go away

That's why I think he stays in and makes the Dodgers trade him. Someone would probably take him for 20-25 mil over two years with how shitty the FA SP market is.

I think Kazmir is butthurt about the postseason and he sees the writing on the wall. In line for 2017 you have Kershaw, Wood, McCarthy and Maeda as of now are locks for the rotation. Then there is Urias, De Leon, Stewart and Stripling who all probably will deserve a shot one point or another in 2017 (yes, I do think Urias starts 2017 in AAA). We also have the rumors floating around that the club wants to bring back Hill, though it sounds like he may be reluctant to come to LA as apparently he too wants to play on the East Coast... I also foresee the rumor mill flying with the team pursuing a number two to put behind Kershaw, whether that be trying to buy low on Greinke or someone else. They do those things and there is no place for Kazmir(rightfully). I think this offseason is going to be the wildest one yet for the FO. They have a lot of assets they need to move around and obviously have some spots in need of serious improvement (2B, Backend Bullpen, Corner OF, SP).

    good point
the market is incredibly thin for fa starters
hill is by far the best one... which is probably why he'll go elsewhere
plus (despite what he says) he's probably still upset about being pulled from a perfect game

Seager named 2016 Sporting News NL Rookie of the Year
by Eric Stephen | True Blue LA — 8 hours ago

LOS ANGELES — Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager was named the 2016 Sporting News National League Rookie of the Year Award on Monday, the first Dodger in 21 years to be so honored.

The Sporting News awards are voted on by players, and Seager was picked as NL Rookie of the Year on 143 of 176 ballots. Nationals outfielder Trea Turner was second with 15 votes, followed by Dodgers pitcher Kenta Maeda with six votes and Rockies shortstop Trevor Story with five.

Seager hit .308/.365/.512 with 40 doubles and 26 home runs, setting LA Dodgers rookie records in hits (193), runs scored (105), doubles and total bases (321). He was the team’s best hitter while playing a premium defensive position, and figures to receive NL MVP votes as well.

The last Dodgers position player to win Sporting News Rookie of the Year was Raul Mondesi in 1994. But through 2003, The Sporting News named top rookies in each league both at position player and pitcher. The last Dodgers pitcher to win Sporting News Rookie of the Year was Hideo Nomo in 1995.

The Baseball Writers Association of America will announce the top three finishers for its awards on Monday, Nov. 7 on MLB Network. BBWAA award winners will be revealed from Nov. 14-17, with Rookies of the Year in each league announced on Monday, Nov. 14.

Dave Roberts named 2016 Sporting News NL Manager of the Year
by Eric Stephen | True Blue LA — 8 hours ago

LOS ANGELES — Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was named 2016 Sporting News National League Manager of the Year on Monday, perhaps a foreshadowing of the BBWAA award next month.

Roberts received 7 of 14 votes from NL managers to win, the fist Dodgers manager to be so honored by The Sporting News since Walt Alston in 1963. Cubs manager Joe Maddon and Dusty Baker of the Nationals tied for second place with three votes each, and Mets skipper Terry Collins received one vote.

The Dodgers won their fourth consecutive division title in 2016, but it wasn’t smooth sailing in Roberts’ first season. He saw ace Clayton Kershaw miss 10 weeks with a herniated disc in his back and the Dodgers set an MLB record with 28 different players played on the disabled list.

"To get recognized is a great honor, but something for me that is a team award. I can't tell you how much support I've gotten in the first year,” Roberts said Monday. “The title says manager of the year, but it's a team and organization award for me.”

Baseball Writers Association of America award winners will be revealed from Nov. 14-17, with Rookies of the Year in each league announced on Tuesday, Nov. 15. But first, the BBWAA will announce the top three finishers for its awards on Monday, Nov. 7 on MLB Network.

Puig hopeful to play for Mexico in 2017 World Baseball Classic
by Matthew Moreno | Dodger Blue — 6 hours ago

Roughly two weeks prior to the regular season concluding Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig expressed an interest in playing Winter ball in the Dominican Republic. In order to do so Puig would need to gain approval from Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman.

Friedman didn’t rule out the possibility, but at the time with a postseason run still left to be played, he didn’t see it fit to make a decision. While it remains to be seen if Puig will be granted permission, he more recently expressed an interest in playing for Team Mexico in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

“I want to play center field for Mexico,” Puig said during an appearance on “MLB Tonight.”

“It’s the reason I’m here right now,” Puig said of Mexico’s importance to him. “I signed in Mexico with the Dodgers and now I’m here and now I’d like to give the favor back and play with Mexico in the World Baseball Classic.”

Puig acknowledged a willingness and desire to play for his native Cuba, but the country will not permit Major League players or anyone who has defected to represent them in the 2017 tournament.

In a good-natured fashion Puig interrupted an J.P. Morosi’s interview with Team Mexico manager Edgar Gonzalez. Edgar is the older brother of Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez.

“If we’re able to get permission and get all the paperwork squared away, I would love to have him in the outfield with us,” Edgar said.

Puig obtained a Mexican passport when he established residency in the country after defecting from Cuba. He signed a seven-year, $42 million contract with the Dodgers in June 2012.

It’s plausible he’d be joined on the Mexican national team by Dodgers teammates Adrian Gonzalez and Julio Urias. Gonzalez left the Dodgers for a brief period during Spring Training to join the Mexican national in the WBC qualifier.

Mexico begins the 2017 WBC in Guadlajara on March 9. Dodger Stadium will host the WBC semifinals and final from March 20-22.

1 bat isn't going to change their fortunes against LHP.
And of course numbers VS LHP aren't the end-all/be-all as far as what they need to improve on offensively.
Hendricks, RHP, took a shit on them just the same as any LHP, and Lackey skated by them as well.
They need to add more than 1 bat for all situations.
