Ball was hard to read off the seats. I guess sunny days were a mess for them.

Where did you read this? It's only one section so I assume this would only help the infielders.

A couple reporters tweeted about it earlier today.

Well if it helps our players, I'm D. It is ugly though.

Yeah and I feel it will help everyone really, that initial contact is the most important read for the OF'er. A bad or delayed first step can be the difference between an out and a hit.....or you can lose a low liner in the seats and take a shot to the dick & balls in a playoff game....

A bunt and a flyball literally just sent a team to the WBC finals

They probably will...Along with the DH in the NL and a bunch of other faggotty changes, they will make sure the most perfect game is diluted to the point of distraction.
I can see making changes to a sport when players are being injured and their post retirement lives are negatively affected, like in the NFL, but changes to save time?
I can deal with automatic IWs if it should happen, but the extra innings format with men on base blows, plain and simple.

The rule sucks, but I absolutely get why they did it for this tournament. How many of you on here would have been pissed to see Kenley out there for a second inning of work? a third even? That's probably what would have happened without that rule. It's a preseason tournament where pitchers aren't allowed to throw more than 85 pitches right now and most of them won't anyway. In a must win without that rule, I could see managers keeping guys out there longer than they should. Fuck, Leyland is already treating this like it is some superior thing and shitting on guys who were doing what their bosses told them to do. They're exhibition games and everyone hates the rule(including players), so I am not worried about this getting implemented.

If they did it with 1 out it would be better. Discourage the bunt and sac fly endings.

yowza, Ethier down with a mild herniation of a disc in his back. Down 7-10 days then the team will reassess. Not likely that he can make the opening day roster. It will be interesting to see how this is handled as Thompson has been impressing with the bat. Could open the door for him to be an everyday starter.

Whoa, Giants bullpen may have taken a big hit today as Will Smith appears to have UCL damage in his elbow. Smith was expected to be the LH setup man to Melancon in an already thin bullpen. Smith was acquired last season admittedly in part due to the Dodgers struggles against LH pitching. This would be a major early blow to the Giants who have thus far avoided the injury bug that is once again plaguing the Dodgers and Rockies clubhouses.

The LAD should change their logo from the flying ball to what my dad had on his helmet in WWII...A white circle with a red cross in the middle.
It would be damn wonderful to have, at the start of just one season anyway, everybody on the roster healthy for a time.
    No way.

Personally, I would feel the same way I do right now that my team pays a player , say 80 million dollars...And lets him play in a tournament where he could break his leg, get hit in the head with a ball, jam his knee, or any other injury he could sustain actually earning his money playing MLB.For the team and fans that make him a multi millionaire. Yup.
So...worried about him being stretched out for an inning or two... is so much worse? Lol.

I thought the player makes himself a millionaire with his dedication, years of training, and talent on the field.
I as a fan don't make him the money.
What he does in the offseason is his business, not the owners.

This isn't the offseason though, this is the start of the season when players are supposed to be with their teams, building up arm strength, timing at the plate, etc... after the offseason. You are now on the teams clock and if they don't want you away from the team, then you have an obligation to do what the team is telling/paying you to do.

Rob Segedin and Chris Taylor seem to be the surprise camp standouts and are turning some heads. Both players made adjustments to their swings in the offseason and came into camp ready to go with them. It is causing more consistent/hard contact from each player. Case in point why the WBC can hurt you, Kike has been with Puerto Rico, not getting regular AB's and the guy he was battling with has been in camp crushing the ball. It would be interesting to see if Taylor could put it together as he is a much more polished fielder and raked his way through MiLB while never being able to put it fully together on the main stage. Segedin on the other hand began to develop more power last season after an alteration and improved on it this offesason. Not saying that these are two stars ala Justin Turner, but could both show to be solid bench pieces with their versatility and more consistent AB's.
