Off season? This is off season ?
I don't care if he can bounce a baseball on the head of his dick, learned by his dedication and years of training, somebody has to pay him.
Who knew? I thought the fans who go to the stadium actually helped pay him...

Chris Taylor was a 5th round pick for the Mariners number 8 Prospect he had a 952 OPS on the road 815 at home.

At the time they said Taylor strong performance in the PCL was no illusion due to the parks in Tacoma it depressed doubles and runs scored relative to The Parks of Rainers visited on the road.

But Taylor brings positional versatility and ability to hit for average to the Mariners and he could carve a useful career as a utility player. At the time they said to expect Taylor to be a stolen base threat as well as an above-average Runner and he could give the team a boost in average while not losing any home runs in the jump from Triple-A to the majors since that's not his game anyways per Baseball America 2014.

    Which is happening in 2017...:passthejoint:

Sure its the offseason. Season starts soon, but its not started yet.
And I think yall forgetting one key point.
MLB created the WBC, it is the brainchild of the MLB and its owners to create more revenue by maximizing their investments in these players and growing the brand worldwide on their backs.
Not on the team name brands, like the Dodgers/Yankees. But on the league in general and the players involved specifically.
The players here are not the problem. They are not going rogue.
This is not the players wanting to play in the Olympics. Its the players wanting to play in a for profit all star game type of tournament where players are reseeded into teams that correspond to their national affiliate of choice that their bosses have created to squeeze as much out of them as they can while skirting the union bylaws.

I wonder what an ML team would do/say if a player said" it's officially off season now, I'll show up at game one of the regular season, but right now, I'm busy with something else more important to me"? And follow with,
"It's not your business what I do".

    Shaq did just that.

"I broke my ankle on company time, so I will have surgery and rehab it on company time once the season starts so as not to cheat myself and my family of our long planned vacation".

    He took it to extremes.

    Shaq the flat earther guy?
With all due respect, pretty laughable example.
    More of an anti-example, actually.

So for those wondering about Ryu, who yes is continuing to pitch great, he has still been working 86-87 up to this start which is below the 90-91 he worked pre-injury. I have been on the phone all day so I have not heard what the radio announcers had to say, but he mowed down the Brewers pretty well. Really hope he can add a couple MPH's back on his fastball, otherwise he is gonna have some games where he will be crushed if he is not on.

Wonder how empty the stadium will be tonight for the USA-Japan semi final game. The rain won't help. Neither does scheduling it on a Tuesday night at 6 PM.

Ethier diagnosed with mild herniated back disk
by Bill Baer | NBC Sports Hardball Talk — 92 minutes ago

MLB.com’s Ken Gurnick reports that Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier has been diagnosed with mild herniation of a disk in his lower back, making it doubtful that the veteran will be ready for Opening Day. Ethier received an epidural injection and will be shut down from baseball activity for seven to 10 days.

Ethier, who turns 35 years old next month, missed almost all of the 2016 season with a broken leg. He was hoping to grab at least a part-time role in left field, but it appears that won’t be the case to start the season. Andrew Toles is the player most likely to see increased playing time in Ethier’s absence.

Ethier has a club option worth $17.5 million with a $2.5 million buyout for the 2018 season, which likely makes this season his last in L.A given his age and health issues.
